Below is a template I wrote containing supplications, condolences, guidance, and a reminder in how to confront these troubling times.
You can save and use it when that time comes.
The post is in feminine form, due to someone who informed me that they just lost their mother in law رحمها الله, but you change the pronoun in arabic from ها to ه by erasing the alif.

Wa alaykumus salaam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
إِنَّا لِله وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ
Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَها وَارْحَمْها وَأَدْخِلْهَا الْفِرْدَوْسَ الْأَعْلَى بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ وَلا عَذَاب
O Allah, forgive her, have mercy on her, and admit her to the highest Paradise without account or punishment.
اللَّهُمَّ أسبغ على أهلها صبرا
O Allah, bestow patience upon her family.
اللَّهُمَّ آجِرْكُمْ فِي مُصِيْبَتِكُمْ وَاخْلُفْ لَكُمْ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا
May Allah reward you for your calamity and replace it with something better.
إِنَّ لِلهِ مَا أَخَذَ، وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى، وَكُلٌّ عِنْدَهُ بِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى، فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ
Surely to Allah belongs what He gives and what He takes, and everything has an appointed term. So be patient and seek reward.
عَظَّمَ اللهُ أَجْرَكُمْ وَأَحْسَنَ عَزَاءَكُمْ، وَغَفَرَ لِمَيِّتِكُمْ.
May Allah magnify your reward, grant you the best consolation, and forgive your departed one.
♥️ Know, may Allah have mercy on you, there are 3 acts of worship when a relative or friend passes away؛ one is obligatory and two are recommended.
1. Patience, and this is obligatory.
Allah informs us of the reward for those who are patient:
إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
"Surely those who practice patience will be given their reward without account." (39:10)
For every good deed there is a fixed amount of rewards. As for the rewards for patience, then there is no fixed number. The reward is with the Most Generous.
You must be patient in:
1. Your heart: by not hating or disliking the Divine Decree of Allah
2. You Limbs: by not rpping your hair, hurting yourself, damaging property, punching the wall, or performing Haram.
3. Your tongue: by avoiding any statement or sound that would show your displeasure with Allah's Divine Decree.
🚫 Do not say, "why me" or any other similar statements.
✅️ Instead say:
إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
To Allah we belong, and to Him we will return.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ
al-ḥamdu lillāhi ʿalā kulli ḥāl
All Praises are due to Allah in every situation.
إنّ العينَ لتدمعُ، وإنّ القلبَ ليحزنُ، وإنّا على فراقك يا "_" لمحزونونَ، ولا نقولُ إلا ما يرضي ربنا.
للهِ ما أخذَ، ولهُ ما أعطى، وكلُّ شيءٍ عندَهُ بأجلٍ”
The eye tears, and the heart grieves, and surely we, at your separation, O "__", are sorrowful, and we do not say except what pleases our Lord.
To Allah belongs what He has taken, and to Him belongs what He has given; everything is with Him by a decree with a fixed term.
Along with the other supplications in the beginning of this message.
2. Pleasure (Ridaa) in Allah's Divine Decree, and this is recommended.
3. To show (Shukr) gratitude and thank Allah, and this is the highest form of Worship.
You recognize that everything Allah Decrees is with wisdom, so you place your trust in His decisions.
Everything Allah Decrees for us is best for us, whether we realize or not.
Alhamdulillah, it was time for your deceased loved one, and it was the best time. Perhaps if they lived longer it would be spent in disobedience - we never know. Allah knows best, while we do not know.
Alhamdulillah, Allah took their soul upon Iman and Islam.
And they are going to a better abode, which is Jannah in shaa Allah, our ultimate goal and home. Alhamdulillah.
Thank Allah, and Allah will grant you more than you ever expected.
لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ
"If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more" (14:7)
🤲 The best deed you can do on their behalf is making dua, as this was highlighted by the Prophet صلى الله وعليه وسلم when he mentioned: | 762 |

| 12 | There is a beautiful quote I read today: "Don't let perfect be the enemy of good."
Waiting for the ideal circumstances before starting a task will prevent you from ever beginning.
We often believe that we require X amount of time, in an ideal atmosphere, under perfect conditions, in the perfect mood, and with the perfect drink to begin reading the Quran.
Not realizing that it is possible to read the Quran from your phone for even a minute in the busy streets while waiting for the bus or for someone to arrive. It's alright to start for a few minutes, stop, and continue later. Every Harf is 10 hasanaat.
Sometimes we want to start a project or business, but we want everything to be perfect before we start. Perfection will never come. You only "perfect" your craft through trial and error.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم gave this invaluable advice when he said:
فسدِّدوا وقارِبوا
Aim and come close.
He didn't say be perfect, because we can never be perfect.
Don't let your doubts ever prevent you from chasing what will benefit you.
And always seek assistance in Allah. May Allah grant us all success.

| 18 | The Knicks have reached the finals.
I no longer watch basketball, nor do I feel the urge to.
I don't even recommend watching it personally. Time is too precious.
However, this marks the Knicks’ first finals appearance since the late 90s, and the city is buzzing with excitement.
Since the base ruling of basketball is that it is permissible, and many Muslims will watch the game, I feel it is important to mention some guidelines:
If you can, I suggest watching highlights to save time.
If you must watch the entire game, then consider these guidelines:
1. Pray Maghrib & Isha in congregation.
This is the purpose you were created for. You will find peace, happiness, provisions, and all that benefits you by sacrificing your desires for Allah.
2. Look away whenever anything forbidden appears.
3. Mute the game if there are impermissible sounds. Consider listening to commentary from your favorite watch along channels instead. Or even radio play-by-play.
4. Do not watch or listen to the advertisements.
5. Avoid places where haram is being committed (e.g., drinking alcohol, inappropriate mingling, etc.).
6. Be content with Allah’s Qadr. If the Knicks lose, do not yell or scream; instead say:
قدر الله وما شاء فعل
QadarAllah wa maa shaa Fa'ala
Allah has decreed what He willed, and whatever He wills he does.
And الحمد لله على كل حال.
Alhamdulillah ala kulli haal
All praises are due to Allah in every circumstance.
7. Use the breaks for dhikr and remembrance of Allah.
8. RUSH to fulfill your parents needs promptly if they ask you to do something, and don’t delay for a second. Even if it is the final shot of the game.
9. Use the game as a reward system. Sit down and memorize a page of the Quran, listen to a lecture, accomplish something benefical before and after the game.
