🎸 Gary Moore was a Northern Irish guitarist, singer, and songwriter born in Belfast in 1952. He began playing guitar as a teenager and became active in the Irish rock scene during the late 1960s. In the 1970s, he joined the band Thin Lizzy and worked with Phil Lynott on multiple occasions. During this period, he also released solo albums and became known for combining blues influences with hard rock guitar playing. Moore later shifted more heavily toward blues music, especially after releasing Still Got the Blues in 1990. The album became one of his most successful releases and included collaborations with artists such as Albert King, Albert Collins, and George Harrison. He continued recording and touring until his death in 2011 in Spain at the age of 58. @GaryMoore

@SocietyOfRock

"Still Got the Blues (For You)" is the emotionally charged 1990 title track that served as the defining moment of Gary Moore's career shift from hard rock and heavy metal back to his blues roots. The song, a poignant blues ballad about the enduring pain of lost love, is universally celebrated for its expressive and soulful guitar work. Moore, playing his signature Gibson Les Paul, crafted a legendary solo characterized by massive, sustained bends, a singing, vocal-like melodic phrasing, and a raw, thick tone that perfectly channels the deep heartache of the lyrics.  It successfully re-established Moore as a formidable blues-rock virtuoso and became his most successful single in the US, cementing its place as a classic of the electric blues genre. Shapes of things before my eyes Just teach me to dispise. Will time make man more wise? Here, within my lonely frame. My eyes just hurt my brain. But will it seem the same? Come tomorrow, will I be older? Come tomorrow, maybe a soldier? Come tomorrow, will I be bolder than today? Now, the trees are almost green. But will they still be seen When time and tide have been? Soon, I hope that I will find Thoughts deep within my mind That won't disgrace my kind. Come tomorrow, will I be older? Come tomorrow, maybe a soldier? Come tomorrow, will I be bolder than today? Shapes of things before my eyes Just teach me to dispise. Will time make man more wise?

Murder In The Skies Time was running out for all on board Soaring up through the shadows of night. High above the clouds the engines roared This would be their final flight. The russians have shot down a plane on its way to Korea. Two hundred and sixtynine innocent victims have died. Murder in the skies Came without a warning. Murder in the skies Black September morning. Murder in the skies. Time was running out for everyone Flying over the Sea of Japan. None would live to see the rising sun Death was following close at hand.
