On this day in 1921, Baron Roman von Ungern-Sternberg was executed by firing squad after capture by the Red Army and trial before a Soviet revolutionary tribunal. A fierce monarchist and enemy of Bolshevism, he promoted the idea that jews had orchestrated the Red revolution. Big Sky AC members traveled to Kalispell to attend the Flathead Celtic Festival this month, joining hundreds of other Montanans to celebrate our European roots. We watched the displays of strength showcased in the highland games, listened to Celtic folk music performances, and enjoyed learning about the many clans and houses of Scotland and Ireland. We also camped at one of the many lakes in the area, enjoying the mild fall weather and the breathtaking natural beauty of the mountains.
