Over the past year or so, we've noticed a major revitalization of the old "Northwest Territorial Imperative" idea. While we don't have much to say (at least, for the moment) about the idea itself, we're surprised to see that the NWTI people are still holding up Harold A. Covington as a figure to be admired/respected/emulated. What they may or may not be aware of, and what you may not know, is that Covington was one of the biggest shitbags in movement history (and that's saying something). Covington was a known liar, a convicted libeller, and overall a thoroughly disreputable figure - in short, a person who should be left in the dustbin of movement history. He lied about figures as varied as Dr. Pierce (whom he implied was an informant), Ben Klassen (whom he outright stated was a gay rapist murderer), Matt Koehl (whom he said murdered Commander Rockwell), and Tom Metzger (whom he called an alcoholic wife-abandoner). In fact, Covington was such an outrageous liar, that he was actually convicted of libel in court, for his lies about Will Williams (Covington implied that Williams assisted in the OKC bombing), and ordered to pay $10,000. Covington fled to Washington state soon afterward, claiming that he had now wholeheartedly adopted the Northwest idea. In reality, he was fleeing the $10,000 judgement. We could go on for days about the lies and misdeeds of Harold A. Covington, from his stolen valor tales about his service in Vietnam (where he never went) and Rhodesia (where he was a file clerk), to his service under a man (Frank Collin) who he knew to be a kike child-molester. Suffice it to say, Covington was a scumbag, he should be forgotten, and by honoring him, you dishonor the great men that he dishonored. The Northwest idea was not created by Covington, or even popularized by him. It was known as the "Butler Plan", after the great Pastor Richard Butler, long before Covington co-opted it. It would be much better for the promoters of this idea to totally disassociate themselves from Covington - it is unwise to tie yourself to a total scumbag like him.
