An Sincere Advisor is Like a Mirror
S͟hayk͟h Ṣalāḥ Kantūs͟h (ḥafiẓahullāh) said:
❝Whoever sincerely advises you with the truth is like a mirror for you, one through which you fix your appearance before going out to people. So do not get irritated by advice, just as you would not get irritated if a mirror showed you that your hair needs tidying or your turban needs adjusting. It shows you what beautifies you. In the same way, a sincere advisor wants your good, not your harm. So be careful not to be from those about whom Allāh said: ❛But you do not love those who advise.❜ And Allāh’s help is sought.❞

How is A Scholar Chosen Such That People Return to Him in Matters of Their Religion
S͟hayk͟h Salaḥ Kantūs͟h (ḥafiẓahullāh) said:
❝Some may ask: what is the criterion for selecting a scholarly reference? Or how is a scholar chosen such that people return to him in matters of their religion?
This is a very important question, and its answer lies in a principle indicated by a number of textual proofs: namely, a recognised commendation from the senior scholars.
The Prophet, (may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace) encouraged taking knowledge and the Qurʾān from specific individuals among his Companions by naming them explicitly. He said: ❛Take the Qurʾān from four: ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd—beginning with him—Sālim, the freed slave of Abū Ḥud͟hayfah, Muʿādh ibn Jabal, and Ubayy ibn Kaʿb,❜ as authentically reported from ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr (may Allāh be please with them).
This ḥadīth clearly singles out certain Companions by name, meaning that the religion is to be taken from them in particular, just as others were specified in other contexts.
So when a clear designation and referral comes from the senior leading scholars, then hold firmly to it and adhere to it, for they do not make such recommendations except based on their experience of people.
And beware of the commendation of the general masses and junior students of knowledge who have no real insight into people.
In the story of the man who killed many souls there is a great lesson. When he wished to repent, he asked the people about the most knowledgeable person on earth. They directed him to a monk whom they praised and considered an authority fit to guide in religion, yet he was an ignorant fool. The people assumed he had knowledge, and he believed them, considering himself among the people of knowledge. He called people to gather around him, misled them, and spoke about Allāh without knowledge.
As is also authentically reported from ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr ibn Al-ʿĀṣ, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh, (may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace) say: ❛Allāh does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the servants, but He takes away knowledge by taking the scholars. Until when He leaves no scholar, the people will take ignorant leaders; they will be asked, and will give verdicts without knowledge, so they will go astray and lead others astray.❜
So be alert. Do not take your religion except from those approved by the senior scholars. They spoke from experience, and with knowledge and forbearance they exercised patience. And Allāh is the One whose help is sought.❞

❝I believe my S͟hayk͟h is not infallible and can make mistakes, and I too am not free from error❞ — Between Claim & Reality
S͟hayk͟h Ṣalāḥ Kantūs͟h (ḥafiẓahullāh) said:
❝Many who ascribe themselves to the Sunnah will say with their tongues, ❛I believe my S͟hayk͟h is not infallible and can make mistakes, and I too am not free from error.❜ Yet their conduct and other statements tell a different story, as though they truly believe he does not err. So they defend their S͟hayk͟h even when he has clearly erred, almost as if he were protected from mistake.
The correct approach is to free yourself from blind following, and present what you hold to the major scholars so they can judge your views. If they agree with you, then all is well. But if they say you have erred, or that your S͟hayk͟h has erred, then beware of bigotry.
The straight path is to cling to the guidance of the scholars. One of the greatest calamities after the passing of the scholars is for a person to make himself a reference point for the people, imagining himself to be among the seniors.
So be alert. The heart is weak, it can fall ill faster than a flash of lightning. And Allāh is the One whose help is sought.❞

[Ruling on Naming a Girl Lisa]
❓ Question:
Is it permissible for a man to name his daughter Lisa?
✅ Answer:
The name Lisa is derived from Elisa, and Elisa is [derived from] Elizabeth. The scholars say regarding names [commonly] used by disbelievers that it is disliked to give such names.
📌 Therefore, we do not advise this brother to name his daughter Lisa, because it is derived from Elizabeth.
May Allaah bless you.

*[Calling to the Truth and Warning from Falsehood is not Achieved through Lying]*
Question:
Our Shaykh, in the case that rectification between people is not possible except by using lies then that is permissible from the angle of removing the greater corruption by using the lesser corruption.
So is it permissible to expose the opposing sects such as the Shi’ah, the Sufiyyah, and other than them if there is no way to expose them except through lying?
Answer:
All praise is due to Allaah, and may praise, safety, and security be upon the Messenger of Allah.
To proceed:
No, this method is not permissible because these refutations and expositions of falsehood are from the religion and the religion of Allaah is not upheld by lies.
And telling the truth is obligatory - with the one who agrees and the one who opposes.
Allaah said. “O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with the truthful.” {Surah at-Tawbah, verse 119}
And the call of the Prophet ﷺ was known for truthfulness and he nurtured his companions upon that. And he called the people to that such that it became well-known to both the enemy and the friend. It has come in the Hadeeth of Abu Sufyaan Sakhr ibn Harb (may Allaah be pleased with him) regarding what happened between him and Heraclius (Hiraql) that Heraclius said to him, "What does he command you with?" Meaning, by that: the Prophet ﷺ.
So Abu Sufyaan said, 'I said, "He says: (Worship Allaah alone without worshipping anything besides Him and abandon what your forefathers said [of falsehood.]) And he commands us with the prayer, truthfulness, chastity and modesty, and maintaining the ties of kinship."' [Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim]
And the truth is good, beloved, and powerful - nothing is required to reveal and spread it except knowledge, wisdom, and sound exhortation.
And falsehood is evil, detestable, and weak - nothing is required to refute and expose it except clarification, explanation, and guidance based upon knowledge, wisdom, and sound exhortation. And there are forms of falsehood whose resolution involves fighting [in the path of Allaah], the implementation of prescribed punishments, and similar issues which return back to those in authority.
After that, guidance - its beginning and its end - belongs to Allaah. Allaah said, "Indeed, you (Muhammad ﷺ) do not guide whom you wish but rather Allaah guides whomever He wills; and He knows best the guided." {Surah al-Qasas, verse 56}
Whoever adopts falsehood in his call will go astray, deviate, and will not be safe from errors and oppositions in both his immediate and later affairs. It has come on the authority of ibn Mas'ud (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, truthfulness leads to righteousness and indeed, righteousness leads to Paradise. And verily, a man will tell the truth until he is recorded with Allaah as truthful. And indeed, lying leads to wickedness and indeed, wickedness leads to the Hellfire. And verily, a man will tell lies until he is recorded with Allaah as a liar." [Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Thus, it is sufficient that you clarify their falsehood, substantiate that from reliable sources, and respond to them with academic refutations in accordance to the legislated principles.
And Allaah knows best.

Sheikh Mustafa Mabram -hafidhahullaah- wrote:
“The continued presence of the people of knowledge in the ummah is a safety valve for it, and people will remain in a good state so long as they recognize the status of their scholars.
It was narrated from ʿAbdullah ibn ʿAmr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Indeed, Allah does not remove knowledge by snatching it away from people, but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars. Until when He leaves no scholar, the people will take ignorant ones as leaders. They are asked, and they give fatwa without knowledge; thus they go astray and lead others astray.” Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.Goodness will remain in the ummah as long as there is a scholar among them. And among the loftiest principles in dealing with the people of knowledge is knowing their ranks in knowledge. Among the scholars who are known to the ummah, and whom those before them testified to for their knowledge and that they should be returned to, are: - Shaykh al-Fawzaan - Shaykh al-ʿAbbaad - Shaykh Muhammad ibn Hasan Aal al-Shaykh - Shaykh ʿAbdullah al-Bukhaari. And across the world are noble mashayikh who have a status and connection with these scholars." Source: official Telegram channel of the shaikh t.me/mbrm1430/10587 Translation: Abu Abdillaah Rifaz
