🔎 Market Overview | Stocks, Inflation & Gold 🟠 What’s Happening in the Market • Nasdaq: Hedge funds and investment banks sold $21.6B worth of Nasdaq futures over the past week, with most of the activity positioned for a market decline. • SpaceX: Shares rose more than 10% in one day and almost 40% over the past 5 trading sessions, adding around $550B to market capitalization. • Major Companies: A significant share of trading activity is concentrated in NVDA, MU, and TSLA. During periods of high activity, individual stock prices can move faster than usual. 🟠 What Could Move the Market • Inflation & the Fed: U.S. inflation slowed to 3.4% year-over-year in July, while core CPI came in at 2.5%. Against this backdrop, the probability of a Fed rate hike at the September meeting fell to 34%, about half the level seen at July highs. • Oil: Uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz remains. Iran said there is no ceasefire agreement with the U.S. and that the strait will remain closed. Trump stated that the U.S. has control over the strait. • Gold: Futures climbed above $4,500 per ounce, up roughly 14% since mid-July. The largest gold ETF, GLD, attracted $637 million in one day, marking its strongest daily inflow since June.
