i actually do agree that religion can give authority a kind of divine legitimacy. however, submission to a higher authority doesn't necessarily mean unquestioning obedience to human authority. i'd also say that if blind obedience is the concern, then the underlying issue is broader than religion. any system that discourages critical thought and claims unquestionable authority becomes dangerous, be it religious or secular.
