Kemet, meaning “the Black Land,” is a name associated with the rich, dark, fertile soil surrounding the Nile River, in the land now known as Egypt.
For me, the word carries a meaning beyond soil or history. Kemet evokes a darkness that gives life — a fertile darkness that nurtures, grows, and ultimately gives birth to light.
This piece for violin and piano emerged from that image: darkness as a place of becoming, of silence and depth, and light slowly being born from within it.
The piece was premiered at the Pol Music Event in Tehran, at Parsian Sound City, performed by Daniel Khalifeh on violin and Amir Ataei on piano.

“But I loved Narcissus because, as he lay on my banks and looked down at me, in the mirror of his eyes I saw ever my own beauty mirrored.”
Oscar Wilde
This symphonic poem was inspired by Oscar Wilde’s retelling of the myth of Narcissus. In Wilde’s version, the pool does not mourn Narcissus for his beauty, but because, in his eyes, it could see its own beauty reflected.
Focusing on this poetic reversal, the work explores themes of love, narcissism, reflection, loss, and the search for the self. The relationship between Narcissus and the pool becomes a dialogue between the self and its own image, dissolving the boundaries between lover and beloved, observer and reflection, beauty and sorrow.

Inspired by Behzad’s The Escape of Yusuf from Zuleikha, this two-movement work contrasts stillness and contemplation with rapid, mechanical escape. Its structure follows the painting’s dynamic spatial flow, while reimagining the story as an AI-driven robot disrupting Yusuf’s solitude.

In this work, I have sought to bring together different tuning systems and explore microtones through a variety of approaches, placing distinct sonic worlds side by side and unifying them within a minimalist sense of order.
