The reality of life is often polar : it is or it isn't. There can be times when there is no grey area. You will survive or you won't. Likewise you are ready or you are not. Whilst impossible to plan and train for all possible events you owe it to yourself, race and family to cover off on what is reasonably likely. The few things you can control fall to your mind, body, will to survive, equipment and network of frens and family to get you through. If your powder is dry, your bag is packed and you feel ready to roll the dice then consider a relationship or friendship you may have recently neglected. A phone call not returned, a message left on seen. If you want to roll the highest possible number it's nice to have another dice or two in your hand. Careful you aren't handed the dice soon and your hands are full with tasks that should have been completed, gear that should have been squared away or holes in your fitness, physical and spiritual. Stay sharp and keep potential the knives in your draw sharp

Whilst foraging for food is one of the most natural acts we can do, it is probably one of the most rare hobbies and skills in the "modern" world. Hunting basically only exists in North America today as a cash cow for the state, few of my hunting buddies would be time / money neutral let alone positive. It gets them outside, keeps them fit enough, in some contact with the outdoors, armed and with some understanding of natural order... Maybe it will be their gateway for development, who knows. But to walk the land, to know it's endless bounty, to see it's opportunities arise at each micro season, to know what animals are likely to feed on certain plants and at what time of budding, flower etc is to have insight into a future harvest. Thankfully there are many resources online and irl for foraging, it might be time to utilise them whilst you have the opportunity. Grow what you can, but never miss the chance to harvest what the world has revealed to you. Stay sharp, look for opportunities to become sharper

What better place for a short rest?
