This case isn't new, It is not something that surprises us TBH. But it reminds me of the quote, "her wings are cut and she is blamed for not knowing how to fly." This disgusting patriarchal dynamic between men and women is always on display and women are mostly bearing the wrath of this unnecessary system. Her wings, her autonomy to exercise her freedom is always restricted. Even after cutting her wings the blame is always on her, "Was she harsh when she rejected him?" "Why did she reject him?" "How did she handle his proposal?" In Beauvoir's words the woman is the other not the subject. Hence when the other, the extra, says no, the subject has to eliminate her to exercise his power.And no matter the method that he uses he will never get blamed or bear the consequence. I know we can't demand justice while living in a system built on a culture and society that inherently supports the actions that cut the wings of every woman who wants to fly and choose her destination.
