The Secret of Female Charm
It’s well known that women laugh much more than men, especially in mixed company. It seems men enjoy making others laugh more than laughing themselves, and this asymmetry is visible from childhood.
Think back to who was the class clown in your group—chances are it was a boy. Could the gap between male and female laughter be a key factor in forming a harmonious relationship?
German psychologists studied how women respond when talking to unfamiliar men, then surveyed both sides. It turns out that the more a woman laughs, the more interest she feels in her conversation partner.
And men actually enjoy it when women laugh. A healthy, harmonious partnership tends to be signaled by the woman’s laughter, not the man’s. Men may laugh or not, but if there’s no woman’s laughter in the home, something’s off.
