The film delves into the shoe’s intricate creation process—from initial sketches to handcrafted assembly. Each pair passes through the hands of 11 artisans, and production remains almost entirely manual to this day. Since its debut, over 20 variations of the Tabi have been produced, ranging from classic leather boots to ballet flats and sneakers. The signature split toe was originally inspired by 15th-century Japanese jika-tabi, traditional footwear worn by craftsmen and dancers.
