#NoteToSelf Telling people to do the thing isn't doing the thing)

Do the Thing 📌
"Preparing to do the thing isn’t doing the thing. Scheduling time to do the thing isn’t doing the thing. Making a to-do list for the thing isn’t doing the thing. Telling people you’re going to do the thing isn’t doing the thing. Messaging friends who may or may not be doing the thing isn’t doing the thing. Writing a banger tweet about how you’re going to do the thing isn’t doing the thing. Hating on yourself for not doing the thing isn’t doing the thing. Hating on other people who have done the thing isn’t doing the thing. Hating on the obstacles in the way of doing the thing isn’t doing the thing. Fantasising about all of the adoration you’ll receive once you do the thing isn’t doing the thing. Reading about how to do the thing isn’t doing the thing. Reading about how other people did the thing isn’t doing the thing. Reading this essay isn’t doing the thing. The only thing that is doing the thing is doing the thing.”

#NoteToSelf
Everyone has their own inner battles.
The world doesn't revolve around you.
Keep an open mind.
We only see a tiny fraction of who they are and what they are about. So even the most open-minded of ours might be too quick to judge others at times. Rather than labeling people in some way, why not give them the benefit of the doubt and encourage open conversations? More often than not, people are grappling with various problems themselves—work, study, family matters or maybe fighting their own demons. Each of us has our own unique stories—much like our fingerprints—so isn't it better to give them the space and hear them out rather than deciding that they are to blame? The truth is, like it or not, we human beings suck at a lot of things, make mistakes, act on incomplete information or without thorough thinking (well, constantly). Rarely do we maliciously try and hurt others' feelings though. We are usually oblivious to our own faults but oversensitive to others'. So, serving as a mirror— reflecting reality without sugarcoating—is arguably the best way forward if we are to improve together. Otherwise, people either stay stuck together or grow apart—pun intended. Normalize openness. Have harsh conversations. Tackle the problems head-on. So, next time someone acts off, pauses, or seems distant—can we stop to ask why, not just whaat? 👀

#Uzbek That she put in this much time and effort to learn our language deserves respect 👏👏👏. How would you assess her speaking level? 👀

Tiny Thoughts 🧠 ** What you find interesting is a better predictor of success than what you're good at. Curiosity isn't random; it's a compass. Question for you: What are you genuinely interested in?👀

The answer ✅: The shortest path is the one you don't abandon.

Obviously, someone was very touched by this task 1 report. If it were task 2, I would probably understand. I cannot believe my eyes but it is actually task 1. Which part broke your heart? 👀

How would you end this sentence 🤔: The shortest path is ...

Tiny Thoughts 🧠 ** Practice until you get it right, and you'll need perfect conditions. Practice until you can't get it wrong, and conditions no longer matter. *** Don't let your worst moments become your story. You blow the presentation and spend the drive home scripting perfect comebacks to an audience that's already gone. Your relationship ends and you spend months replaying conversations that can't be changed. All the time spent perfecting the past is stolen from the future that's still waiting. The past is a teacher, not a judge. Your next move matters more than your last mistake. P.S. Brain Food—a weekly, short yet insightful newsletter by Farnam Street.

#change #MyReport The bar chart shows changes in the water levels of the reservoirs in 6 Australian cities in two separate points in time: October 2009 and October 2010. Overall, while four cities saw the level of reservoir water rise, albeit to varying degrees, Perth and Cydney experienced stable or downward trends. Looking at the increases first, the water level in reservoirs in Brisbane and Darwin were identical in October 2009, accounting for exactly three quarters of the full capacity. While the former saw the most significant rise to reach a chart-high-of 100%, the latter rose by just five percentage points a year later. The figure for Canberra also saw a substantial rise from an initial 50% to 73% in October 2010. Melbourne, meanwhile, had the lowest water level with only 35% initially, a figure that then saw an increase of 10 percentage points—still below the 50-percent mark. In contrast, the remaining two—Perth and Sydney—bucked the trend. The initial water levels of these two were similar, both hovering around 50% in October 2009, similar to that of Canberra at that time. While the figure for Perth halved, dropping to a chart-low-of 26% in the latter year, Sydney was the only city that saw no change in the water levels of reservoirs.
