🔴Assam Rifles, acting on specific intelligence and in coordination with Cachar Police, seized 3,060 packets of illegal cigarettes in Tarapur, Silchar.

The consignment, valued at about Rs 1.83 crore, was intercepted during an operation that also resulted in the arrest of two individuals from Cachar, identified as Hanannan Husain Burnhuiya and Islamuddin Laskar.

A vehicle allegedly used to transport the contraband was confiscated. The suspects and seized items were handed over to police authorities for further investigation. In a separate operation, Assam Rifles, working jointly with Police and CRPF personnel, recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets worth around Rs 12.5 crore in Jiribam. Two persons involved in transporting the narcotics were detained and later handed over to Jiribam Police.
