Cursor AI Hackathon Ethiopia is happening July 25–26 at Adwa Museum.
We’re partnering with Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT) and Ethio telecom to bring builders together for Ethiopia’s largest AI hackathon.
We're looking for idea-stage AI startups. Not polished products, not finished projects. Just a real problem, real users, and a team ready to build fast. If you've been sitting on an idea, this is the weekend to start it.
You'll have 20 hours to turn it into a working MVP, with credits and AI tools from Cursor and our AI credit sponsors: Addis AI, ElevenLabs, Fal, Whisperflow, and more. Food, mentors, and support are covered the whole time.
We're taking 60 teams. Have a team? Register with your team code. Coming alone? Tell us your skills and we'll match you into a team of 5, or fill your team's open spots.
Incubation partners will be in the room too, including MinT, the Addis Ababa University Startup Center, Gheero, and others, ready to back promising teams with mentorship, workspace, and follow-up. Investors will be there looking for ideas worth funding.

| 15 | So, it all started like this:
This morning, I opened up my LinkedIn and saw this post - Linkedin Post, and I decided to give it a try.
The project is called FreeLLMAPI.
What the project does is: it aggregates free LLM provider tiers into One OpenAI-compatible endpoint (behind: /v1/chat/completions). Keys are encrypted at rest; the router handles fallover and rate limits.
In the repository, there are more than 12+ providers connected. The fallback system makes the unified API key work without stopping by automatically switching between models when one model quota limit is reached.
Some of the providers include:
• Google Ai Studio, Groq, Cerebras, SambaNova, NVIDIA Nim, Mistral, OpenRouter, GitHub Models, Cohere, Cloudflare, HuggingFace, Z.ai (Zhipu)...
The project has got a dashboard where you can get:
✅ AI Playground to test your APIs
✅ Unified API Key
✅ 14+ providers connection in a simplified way
They used:
ReactJS, NodeJS/ExpressJS, SQLite (via better-sqlite3) to build this project.
And I took the project a step further.
I cloned the codebase from GitHub, customized it a bit and deployed the it on my server. Then I added 9+ providers API keys.
Now I am integrating the API key into:
• My automation workflows
• The SaaS apps I am building (I will share these SaaS apps with you sooner, in sha Allah)
• And everywhere else I need AI APIs
And one more thing I added is a sign in page (so that no one can access my deployed API endpoints).
The project is open-source.

Gheero is working on improving Ethiopia’s local language datasets by collecting high-quality data from native speakers. The goal is to help AI systems better understand and respond to Afaan Oromo in the Hararge dialect, capturing its natural pronunciation, vocabulary, and everyday expressions.
Students from all departments are eligible to apply, but applicants from CCI College (Computer Science, Information Technology, and Information Science) are highly preferred.
