My early Vegas days were also my know-nothing libertarian days, so my reaction to the Venetian story was, Gosh that's mighty racist.
Industry friends told me bluntly: it's just business. Blacks being drugs and prostitution into the club, so if you don't want drugs and prostitution, you keep out the blacks.
There were vendors that didn't shun this sort of business; notable from memory was one called Moon at the top of the Palms casino. Very dusky staff and patronage. They ended up being part of a large drug bust involving staff, and paid a $1m fine for it, if I recall.

When I arrived in Las Vegas twenty years ago, there was a pretty clear delineation and soft segregation: niggers largely stuck to Fremont and the Orleans, and security would apply a little pressure as needed to keep the undesirables out of the nicer south Strip properties.
Totally different today.

This is the sort of story that sounds bogus because it is too on the nose. Nonetheless, I report truly.
Pass these two security guys and the conversation is:
"Ya like waffle?"
"Uh yah."
"Mmm chicken n waffle. Dat shit good."
Las Vegas seems to be in part turning into a jobs program for guys like this.
