The scowl is fun and effective. I don't think I've told this story here, but pardon if repeat. I was walking by a glass-walled steakhouse at a casino property. Against the glass was a young White couple on a date. Nearby were a gaggle of sheboons and their toddlers, still in pool attire and running around on the restaurant floor. I stopped just long enough to assess the situation and deliver the scowl. The White couple instantly burst into laughter, and I give them a wink a nod as I walk off. Imagine you're a new-hire first officer at the airline where the Pride brigade has won the right to wear special uniforms. You show up to your flight and discover that the guy who is functionally your boss, and with whom you'll be stuck in a cubicle-sized box for the next several hours, feels the need to first announce, to you and to the world, how much he enjoys sodomy. And if you so much as hint that this isn't all normal and good, either today or in an offhand remark in the future, you stand to lose your job and in all likelihood your career. In high school my friend's dad was an older captain at Southwest. He told stories of his young days at PSA, where as a joke they would open the curtain and roll a beer can down the aisle on the climbout ascent. The flight attendants were called stewardesses, and looked the part. Minor tragedy in the scheme of things, but one of many such. @NatAudio2

Frontier flight had over-the-top flamboyant homo flight attendants. Other guy in the exit row was a Frontier pilot in uniform, young straight-laced White guy who seemed professionally obliged to offer courtesy chuckles and positive reinforcement to their absurd prancing and jokes. He of course had nothing to say for the duration of the flight to the twink seated opposite our row and facing us, but offered, "Hey you guys are great!" on his way out. When I was younger I had thoughts of being an airline pilot. I will admit now that, however much money these guys make, I pity them. If you make the wrong joke or observation about the hellscape around you, you lose your career. Golden handcuffs and duct tape. In the terminal at DIA, I saw a young captain wearing an LGBT-themed uniform, with pink-striped epaulettes etc. If I'm twenty and looking at the flying market: Give me a cargo job at half the pay, and spare me the Weimar scene of the airlines. @NatAudio2
