CNN uncovers the sexual violence and transphobic abuse faced by Rohingya hijras in Bangladesh's refugee camps - camps that should have offered all Rohingyas safety after fleeing what the United Nations described as a "textbook example of ethnic cleansing" in their native Myanmar.

Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh has been killed in the Iranian capital Tehran, according to Hamas and Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps.
His killing represents a significant blow to the militant group, eliminating a key figure who headed up its political operations while living overseas.
In a statement, Hamas accused Israel of targeting Haniyeh in a "raid" on his residence in Tehran, following his participation in the inauguration of the new Iranian president.
The Israeli military said it doesn't respond to reports in foreign media, though senior officials have previously vowed to eliminate Hamas and its leadership in response to the group's October 7 attack on Israel.

Simone Biles just won her eighth Olympic medal, surpassing Shannon Miller to become the most decorated American gymnast of all time.
In today's women's team final, Biles competed in all four gymnastics events — vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
At 27 years old, with her first gold in these Paris Olympics, Biles is now the oldest American woman ever to win gymnastics gold. She is five years older than Aly Raisman, who previously held the record.
Yet she's not done; the individual all-around – which she won in 2016 and decided not to compete in three years ago – comes on Thursday, the vault on Friday and the beam and floor exercises on Monday.

Nearly two weeks after one of his former deputies was charged with murder in the death of a Black woman who’d called 911 for help, an Illinois sheriff publicly acknowledged his office failed the slain Springfield-area resident.
“(Sonya Massey) called for help and we failed,” Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell told a community meeting at a church in Springfield about the July 6 shooting.
“We did not do our jobs. We failed Sonya. We failed Sonya’s family and friends. We failed the community,” Campbell said.
Massey, 36, called 911 to report a possible “prowler” at her home near Springfield, according to a court document filed by prosecutors. After two deputies went to the home to investigate, one of them, then-deputy Sean Grayson, shot and killed her following a dispute involving a pot of hot water, authorities said.

It was a celebration worthy of the ages — or at least viral fame.
Surfer Gabriel Medina was taking on Kanoa Igarashi, the man who beat him at the Tokyo Olympics and eventually won silver, and he was looking to turn the tide this time around.
The Brazilian not only managed to take down the Japanese surfer, he did so in part thanks to a near-perfect 9.90-scoring wave on Day 3 of the surfing competition in Tahiti – taking part halfway around the world from Paris. It was the highest score in Olympic history.
The resultant jubilation produced another moment of perfection: Medina leapt from his surfboard, raised his finger aloft and his board just managed to fly parallel to him as photographer Jerome Brouillet from Agence France-Presse snapped the shot.
The remarkable picture has spread across social media with Brazilians celebrating their surfer’s progress into the final eight of the competition, including Real Madrid and Seleção forward Rodrygo.
