The actor George Clooney, who had been among President Joe Biden’s biggest supporters and donors in Hollywood, called on Biden to bow out of the presidential race on Wednesday, just weeks after he hosted a major fundraiser for his reelection campaign. Clooney’s New York Times opinion piece represents the biggest defection against Biden in Hollywood, which the party has long relied on for big-named support and money. It comes as a handful of Democrats in Congress have also publicly demanded Biden step aside due to persistent concerns about his age and mental acuity. “We are not going to win in November with this president,” Clooney warned, adding that the lawmakers he has spoken with privately shared this view. He said the country deserves to hear from other politicians who are seen as potential replacements for Biden on the ticket, including Maryland Gov. In January, CNN began reaching out to former Airbnb employees to ask about hidden camera concerns within the industry. “This is not my Social Security number or my email address. This is my naked body,” said one woman whose host secretly recorded her having sex with her husband at a cottage in Texas. The company announced it would ban all indoor cameras as of April 30. The company said nothing about how it would force hosts to comply with the rules. “You can have all these great rules, but if no one’s checking that the rules are being followed … it’s still kind of the Wild West,” said attorney Bianca Zuniga-Goldwater, who represents several hidden camera victims in suits against Airbnb and Vrbo. CNN reviewed more than a dozen police investigations and lawsuits across the US involving at least 75 victims and found Airbnb often moves swiftly to contain user complaints and resolve them out of court. Victims say they live under a shadow of fear that those private moments will become internet fodder. Airbnb declined CNN’s request for an interview. A man was caught trying to smuggle more than 100 live snakes into mainland China by stuffing them into his pants, according to the country’s customs authority. Five species of snakes were later identified – the milk snake, western hognose snake, corn snake, Texas rat snake and bullsnake – four of which are non-native to China. None of the species is venomous. A statement from the authority said the incident occurred “a few days ago,” but did not specify when. Beryl just smashed all expectations of what an early season hurricane could become, and it has experts concerned for what could be coming next. Typically, early season storms aren't indicative of what's to come later in the season because the necessary atmospheric conditions for powerful storms aren't yet in place. But Beryl broke the mold. "Normally, early-season storm activity doesn't tell us much about what is going to happen the rest of the time," Phil Klotzbach, a hurricane expert and research scientist at Colorado State University, told CNN. "But when storms are strong in the tropical Atlantic and eastern Caribbean, it tends to be a harbinger of a very busy season." The busiest part of Atlantic hurricane season doesn't typically begin until mid-August and peaks in September, but Beryl – which initially formed in late June – behaved like it already arrived. Most people buying cheap houses in Italy are simply attracted by the idea of paying a bargain price for the opportunity to escape to somewhere warmer that has better food. But what if it could also help you live longer? That was the thinking for 72-year-old Bingwa Thomas. Originally from Kansas City and currently based in Los Angeles, Thomas purchased an old dwelling in Latronico for 8,000 euros (about $8,662) deep in Italy’s southern Basilicata region. Thomas was attracted to the region’s healthier, slower-paced lifestyle, hoping that the change would push him well beyond the life expectancy of his demographic in the United States. “Life expectancy in Italy is 82.7 years, while in the US it’s 79,” he says. In fact, the World Health Organization puts that US age figure closer to 77. “But for a Black male it’s 70. So in the US I’m already two years past my expiration date. Yet again, tens of thousands of people in Gaza are on the move, as the Israeli military issues fresh evacuation orders for a number of areas in Gaza City. Over the past 10 days, the IDF has issued instructions for hundreds of thousands of people in Khan Younis in the south, Shujaya in central Gaza and several neighborhoods of Gaza City to leave. The effect has been to increase the total number of displaced people in Gaza, from 1.7 million in May to an estimated 1.9 million now, according to the UN. Approximately nine out of 10 people in Gaza are now estimated to be internally displaced, many of them multiple times. It’s unclear how many people in Gaza City have heeded the latest evacuation order. Many civilians are wary of leaving whatever shelter they have for an uncertain journey to an even more uncertain fate living on the streets or in the overcrowded, unsanitary tent villages that pop up with each evacuation order. Khader Al Za’anoun, a journalist with Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency, told CNN that late on Sunday people in the Tuffah, Old City and Daraj neighborhoods had been instructed to move to “known shelters in the west of Gaza City.” But he said the large-scale evacuation came amid drone- and air-strikes.
