We all have these parts of ourselves that we kinda hide from the world, sometimes, it’s the tough stuff like guilt, bad habits, or mistakes we’ve made. Everyone got their own "dark corners" or places where they feel alone, like they’re carrying this weight that no one else sees. It’s like having these secret struggles, and sometimes it feels easier to let them out and, you know... let the world deal with it. But here’s the thing: we’re all in this together, and part of the journey to mental health is recognizing those tough spots inside ourselves and choosing not to let them control us or hurt others. Instead, we’ve gotta work on healing, on finding balance, on being better, not just for us, but for everyone around us. It’s like being kind to ourselves and each other, understanding that we all have things to work through. And that’s why today, on World Mental Health Day, it’s important to remember we’re not alone, and the best thing we can do is take care of our minds and hearts. By doing that, we fight off the excess, the heaviness, and create more room for peace and joy! So today, let’s celebrate mental health, practice kindness and be there for each other. Happy World Mental Health Day!

So, Albert Camus is saying something pretty deep here

When I kissed her, it felt like I was tasting a whole war. It was like her lips carried this wild storm with them, a mess of emotions I couldn't fully understand but I wanted. That chaos, the kind she brought, wasn't something that scared me. It wasn't something I wanted to run from. It was funny because most people avoid chaos, they stay far from anything that might throw them off balance. But me? I craved it. I craved her. I craved every bit of that madness that she made feel so alive, so raw, so real. And that's what keeps coming back to me. She always says she's the chaos, and she's not wrong. She's like this storm I can't help but get caught up in, and that's what pulled me in. I didn't want the calm. I wanted her, her unpredictable, messy, beautiful chaos. It was a reminder that sometimes the craziest things are the ones we hold onto the hardest. 🤍

Happy our first, to this lovely woman and me.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ The sun was blazing and there we were, me and my girl wandering around the beach like we owned the place. I was squinting through her tiny glasses that barely fit my face because, obviously, she stolen my sandals and was strutting around in my oversized t-shirt. We spotted this huge turtle she want that one but it's basically a dinosaur lol. So we settled for a tiny baby turtle instead and she just plopped it on this tiny thing she had, like a bowl or something... acting like it was the most normal thing ever. Then for some reason, she pulls out watermelon, neither of us likes watermelon anyway, and I'm sitting there like, "Why'd you even bring this?" she just gives me that smile and goes, "I'm giving it to people. Someone’s gotta like it!" so there she is, handing out watermelon slices to random beachgoers like she's on some mission to make everyone's day. Honestly, she's too generous sometimes, but that's my girl! ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

Trying to pick just 8 books to sum me up for this "8 Books to Know Me" with The Bookies was seriously harder than I thought. How do you boil yourself down to only eight? every book I added felt like I was leaving out another part of me, but I went with what I thought captured the big ideas I'm always thinking about, like Fahrenheit 451 and The Brothers Karamazov hit that core of existential searching, Exile and the Kingdom and The Trial add to that whole questioning the world thingy bcs life is chaotic and full of systems we don’t get... but what do we do with that? Then there's The Canterbury Tales which is still so human after all these years and Laut Bercerita and Bumi Manusia (I love Indonesian authors) bring it back to personal and how history shapes us. Also this War and Peace in there too because Tolstoy's whole wrestling with fate and meaning that's so me *trying to figure out where I stand* and to be very honest, still there are so many others I wanted to add haha. Anw, thanks to The Bookies for making this content.
