🔸️The substantia nigra: is a large motor nucleus situated between the tegmentum, and the crus cerebri and is found throughout the midbrain. The nucleus is composed of medium-size multipolar neurons that possess inclusion granules of melanin pigment within their cytoplasm. The substantia nigra is concerned with muscle tone and is connected to the cerebra cortex, spinal cord, hypothalamus, and basal nuclei. 🔹️The red nucleus: is a rounded mass of gray matter situated between the cerebral aqueduct and the substantia nigra. Its reddish hue, seen in fresh specimens, is due to its vascularity and the presence of an iron-containing pigment in the cytoplasm of many of its neurons. 🔸️The pyramids: are composed of bundles of nerve fibers that originate in large nerve cells in the precentral gyrus of the cerebral cortex. The third ventricle is one of the ventricular system of the brain , slitlike cleft between the two thalami,It communicates anteriorly with the lateral ventricles through the interventricular foramina (foramina of Monro), and it communicates posteriorly with the fourth ventricle through the cerebral aqueduct, its filled with the CSF which helps to protect the brain from injury and transport nutrients and waste. Digastric fossa:- roughned depression on base on either side of symphysis menti .it is in these fossae that the anterior belles of digastric muscles are attached

Pterygoid hamulus :- prolonged as curved spike of bone from medial pterygoid plate provide attachment for tensor veli palatini muscle.
