At a time when global peace is hanging by a thread, it is incumbent upon us to build a stronger nation capable of defending its population and standing up to oppression. At a time when personal growth is falling through the cracks and instant gratification is reigning supreme, it is incumbent upon us to build a stronger thyself capable of getting their act together and living up to their potential. It is time to blame ourselves as opposed to pointing fingers at our politicians and making asinine excuses. It is time to admit that when we were dragging out feet, having fun, and obsessing over ostentatious weddings, Israelis, Americans, and Europeans were husting hard and bending over backwards to take care of their current and future generations. It is time to admit that we are increasingly falling off the rails and pursuing things like money and prestige that do nothing but push out ego further out of control. With our mediocre efforts, we ended up as a mediocre nation with little to no geopolitical influence and negotiating power, trailing behind political powers economically, militarily, and intellectually by a landslide margin. We just watched innocent lives burn. We don't even have what it takes to intervene in China's oppressive affairs to look after our closest relatives — Uyghurs, who have been suffering from unspeakable atrocities at the hands of the Chinese regime, including the forced sterilization of young women, identity-based persecution, mass detention, and round-the-clock surveillance. And, you know what? The tables will turn. Just like we watched innocent lives burn, they will watch us burn too. And, you know what else? It is not about winning the war or taking down the oppressors, it is about trying our best to live a good life. If the average citizen is competent, the average politician will be competent too. If the average citizen is competent, the average soldier will be competent too. If the average citizen is competent, the average doctor, teacher, engineer, and athlete will be competent too. When the average person is a piece of shit, the whole country will be a piece of shit. It is as simple as that. @WRITING_T
