New Way to Measure Success: JAMB Introduces Ranking System 📊📉
Prof. Oloyede clarifies that JAMB is a ranking exam, not an achievement test. This year, result slips will show your rank among all candidates nationwide.
For example:
- Scoring 370 doesn't guarantee admission if you're ranked 16th in a competitive pool
- A score of 200 might put you at rank 533,005
- Scoring 140 could mean a rank over 1.5 million
The key takeaway: it's not just about the score, but your position in the ranking that matters for admission. JAMB's role is to rank candidates, and universities admit based on quota and competition.

If it’s not on CAPS, it’s not real. Period."
💡 *Update from JAMB policy meeting*
A speaker has requested that JAMB majorly increase the cut off mark for universities and reduce that of universities, in order to prevent Polytechnics from running out of existence due to low candidates. He also revealed that the major reason for the large number of students in Polytechnics is owing to students not getting admitted by the university they chose.
It's not a new issue, now JAMB is looking into it.
The official age for gaining admission into any university is now pegged at 16 YEARS. It is not negotiable!
It was reduced from 18 years to 16 years! Any University found doing otherwise will be sanctioned.
