Drawn by Miguel Covarrubias, it seems to have been a (rejected) illustration for the 25 March 1950 issue of Time magazine, for whom Covarrubias had worked previously. The illustration was one of many such artworks from the late 1940s and early 50s attacking the West's increasing closeness with Franco.

The UPA is widely revered in Ukraine for its role in fighting against Moscow-backed Soviet rule. It's easy to forget now just how demonized the Vietcong were by the Western media and political class. "Terrorist baby killing mass rapists" was the typical line. Here's just a small sampling of New York Times headlines when searching for "Vietcong terror" ☝️ Notice how Buckley and the host of the show keep comparing the Vietcong to the Nazis as if it's perfectly normal. And back then it was normal for the media and political class, just as it is today to smear the Palestinian resistance as Pure Evil. Look at the NYT ☝️ Anyone who dared defend the Vietcong during this time was smeared as an evil terrorist loving baby killing and rape supporting monster, just as today, the media and zionists smear supporters of Palestinian liberation as the same. @red_irl
