🤑 Tether launches a new stablecoin USDT0
USDT0 — is a USDT derived stablecoin developed in collaboration with LayerZero. The new asset allows users to easily (seamlessly) use the stablecoin across different blockchains. At the moment, it is necessary to use bridges to transfer the token from one blockchain to another, which is often insecure and requires additional fees.
🔄 Users can settle in this asset from January 16, 2025, but for now exclusively on the Kraken exchange, as testing is still underway.

| 4 |  🧠 Correction, fear and expectation
The cryptocurrency market corrected very strongly between December 9 and December 22 (14 days). The volume of liquidations amounted to 7.6 billion dollars. These funds, which traders expected to multiply, were lost.
Open interest (those willing to leverage an asset) in Bitcoin dropped from $68 billion to $60 billion, and in Ethereum — from $29 billion to $23 billion. The biggest decline in interest occurred in the memcoin segment. Pepe, for example, saw its figure drop from $1.2 billion to $485 million.
Most altcoins corrected by 40% or more. The market continues to utilize its three main fear tools: red candles, bad news, and timing. The first two have already been leveraged, and we are now likely to be exposed to the third factor — time.
💬 Is the alt season over? It never really started. Token distribution (characteristic of the market peak) — is not a matter of one month. The market only rose for a short period of time. At a true peak, a correction is perceived as a buying opportunity, euphoria reaches a high level, and memcoins skyrocket to attract the attention of mass buyers. So far, we have not seen such signals.

It may seem like just a joke, but behind memes are huge communities and the possibility of quick profits. People buy them for the sake of fanfare, emotion and the hope of catching the “moon”. But this apparent ease hides serious risks.
🔍 Unlike classic cryptocurrencies, memtocurrencies have no real technological basis or long-term goal. Their value depends entirely on market sentiment and the creators' ability to keep the public interested. This means that any dip can turn into a sharp dump. Investors who go in “on a HYIP” are often hostage to their greed or improper timing.
⚖️ The risks of memtokens are varied. First, it is high volatility — the price can collapse in a matter of minutes. Secondly, abuses by developers: many memtokens are created as schemes for quick liquidity withdrawal. 🤑 USDT is a stablecoin whose exchange rate is pegged to the 1-to-1 US dollar exchange rate. It is the most popular steiblcoin in the world and has the largest capitalization of $120 billion.
🏦 The US federal government has launched an investigation against cryptocurrency company Tether (USDT cryptocurrency) for possible violations of sanctions and anti-money laundering regulations
✉️ The Manhattan District Attorney's Office is investigating to see if the cryptocurrency was used to fund illegal activities such as drug trafficking, terrorism and cybercrime, or to launder money derived from those activities.
🚫 For its part, the U.S. Treasury Department is considering imposing sanctions against Tether because of its USDT stablecoin being actively used by individuals under U.S. restrictions, including Hamas and individuals with ties to Russia. This could lead to a ban on American citizens from dealing with Tether.
📌 A few years ago, the U.S. Department of Justice had already launched an investigation into Tether. However, the stablecoin is still operating to this day.
💡 Very often, the authorities use this technique to scare most cryptocurrency users and provoke them to sell their assets. This is a common manipulation that is always used only at certain moments to make a profit.
