Rosemaling (also known as rose-painting or rosemåling) is a particular style of folk painting that was popularized in Scandinavian countries. It was especially popular in Norway, and remains a treasured folk art to this day. Each region of Norway (and parts of Sweden) has it’s own unique rosemaling style.

I’ll be compiling a list of some of my favorite Folkish artists in anticipation for the holiday season. First and foremost though, I wanted to give a shout-out to my talented friend The Witch Mother https://t.me/esoterichandicraft Her work is truly exceptional and she has always encouraged me in pursuing my own crafts. 🤍 These beaded Algiz earrings are an example of her beautiful talent.

Support and promote Folkish artists, especially during this coming holiday season. We have so many incredibly talented Folk within our circles, it’s truly amazing. ☀️🤍

My submission for the Monthly White Art Challenge. Being that Samhain is traditionally a holiday of ancestor veneration, I decided to create something within this theme. “I Left My Heart In Norway” is an ode to my Norwegian forefathers and foremothers who lived amongst the fjords of our ancestral homeland. It’s also a nod to Norwegian painter Hans Dahl who is known for his iconic depictions of fjords and surrounding landscapes. Hail the Ancestors. The veil thins.
