Sufyān ibn Uyaynah (rahimahu’Allah) said: “A man from among the Salaf would meet a brother from among his brothers and say: ‘O you! If you are able not to mistreat the one whom you love, then do so.’ So a man said to him: ‘Does a person mistreat the one whom he loves?’ He said: ‘Yes. Your soul is more precious to you than all souls. So if you disobey Allah, then you have indeed mistreated it.’” [Ḥifdh al-Umr by Ibn al-Jawzī, p. 68]

Imām Ibn al-Uthaymeen (rahima'hullāh) said: "If you meet your brother, then shake his hand. This is good. But the thing that people have introduced, and I do not know of any origin for it in the Sunnah, is: That when a person enters a gathering, he gets up and shakes hands with them one by one, passing by them. This is not from the Sunnah, because the Prophet ﷺ used to enter gatherings and would not shake hands with the people. Rather, he would sit where the gathering came to an end for him. And the best guidance is the guidance of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

ومجالسة العارف تدعوك من سِتٍّ إلى سِتٍّ: من الشك إلى اليقين، ومن الرياء إلى الإخلاص، ومن الغفلة إلى الذكر، ومن الرغبة في الدنيا إلى الرغبة في الآخرة، ومن الكِبر إلى التواضع، ومن سوء الطويّة إلى النصيحة) أنظر مدارج السالكين، ٣/ ٣٤٥.

The Khawarij's Understanding of the Qur'an. Al-Hāfidh ibn Hajr rahimahu’Allah said : "The first statement that came from them was their saying, 'There is no judgment except for Allah.' They extracted it from the Qur'an and carried it upon other than its proper meaning." [Fatḥ al-Bārī 6/961]

Ibn Sallūm said to his student, Uthmān ibn Mansūr: "A severe hardship befell me, and I fell into great danger in the year 1091 AH. So I remained constant in saying, 'Lā Ḥawla wa Lā Quwwata illā Billāh' (There is no might nor power except with Allah), night and day until sleep overcame me. Then Allah relieved me of it quickly. So to Allah belong all praise and all favor." [Al-Ijāzah al-IIlmiyyah fi Najd 3/545]

Alḥamdulillāh, by the grace and success granted by Allah, we have now covered and discussed all the matters pertaining to the 'Aqiqah.

Al-Fudayl bin Iyaad rahimahu’Allah said : "For a man to show gentleness to the people of his gathering, and to beautify his character with them, is better for him than the standing of his night and the fasting of his day." [Wafayāt al-Aʿyān 4/48]

How is sincerity in seeking knowledge achieved? Imām Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahu’Allah) said: (1) That he intends by it to carry out the command of Allah, since Allah commanded it, saying: "So know (O Muhammad ﷺ) that Lâ ilâha illallâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)." (Qur'an 47:19) (2) That he intends by it to remove ignorance from himself and from others. (3) That he intends by it to follow the legislation (Sharia) of the Prophet ﷺ. (4) That he intends by it to protect the legislation (Sharia) and defend it.

Imām Muhammad Ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Uthaymīn (raḥimahu’Allāh) said: “Good character with Allah regarding His decrees is that you are pleased with what Allah has decreed for you, that you become tranquil regarding it, and that you know that whatever He—Glorified and Exalted is He—has decreed, He has only decreed for a wisdom and a praiseworthy purpose, for which He deserves praise and thanks.” [Makārim al-Akhlāq, p. 24]

Al Hāfidh Al-Suyuti said Abū Qudāmah said: “Do not belittle the carriers of knowledge, for Allah did not belittle them when He placed His knowledge with them.” [Al-Muhawarāt 135]

Sh. al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahu’Allah said: “The servant is commanded that he does not place his trust upon none except Allah, and that he does not desire except toward Him, and that he does not fear except Him, and that he does not act except for Him.” [Jāmiʿ al-Masāʾil 2/114]
