Today we're making it Discord-official. Our new consensus mechanism, Starfish, has been live on mainnet since April 23rd, and after a week of smooth sailing we're ready to talk about it.
The short version: the network now keeps moving even when some validators fall behind. No system-wide slowdowns, no waiting. Recovery happens in the background while everything else keeps going.
It's a meaningful upgrade for anyone building on IOTA, and a big step for the kind of infrastructure global trade actually needs.
We've been working on this for a while - excited to finally have it out in the wild.

We have successfully completed community validation of the snapshot.
We are therefore pleased to announce the release of an updated IRI (v 1.4.2.1), GUI wallet and Javascript library. This includes some significant upgrades (including the wereAddressesSpentFrom API call, which prevents key reuse following snapshots).
**Please note that if you prematurely downloaded v1.4.2.0 before this announcement, you are urged to update again.**

🎉 A new version of the IOTA Wallet (v1.6.0) is out.
Highlights from this release:
- 🪟 Side Panel support: the wallet can now be configured to open as a browser side panel instead of a popup
- 🔑 Unified lock/unlock: all accounts can now be locked and unlocked at once with a single password
- 🔒 Ledger improvements: import beyond 10 accounts and see the transaction hash when signing
- 🛠️ More improvements and fixes:
- Warning when sending to a name that matches a local nickname
- Password confirmation step before resetting the wallet
- Better error messages when a transaction dry run fails
