If I look at the chart and I can't clearly explain the setup to someone else in under a minute — entry, stop, target, reason — then the setup isn't there yet. Clarity before entry. Always. Here's a simple framework I follow. Decide your risk per trade first. For most traders starting out, 1% of your account per trade is the ceiling. Not 5%. Not 10%. 1%. Then work backwards. Where is my stop loss? How many pips away is that? Now calculate your lot size based on those numbers, not based on how confident you feel about the trade. Feeling confident is not an edge. It's a feeling. The traders who compound consistently aren't the ones who bet big on their best ideas. Good morning 👋 Here's something I wish someone told me earlier in my trading journey. The higher the timeframe, the more reliable the level. When you're looking at a 1 minute chart, every little wick and candle feels important. But zoom out to the 4 hour or daily and suddenly the noise disappears. You start to see the real structure. The real levels. The places where price has respected the same zone over and over again. This is how I build every setup. Daily chart — what's the overall direction? Where are the major levels? 4 hour chart — is there a pattern forming? Where is price in relation to the structure? 1 hour or 15 minute — is there a trigger? A confirmation candle at the level? Top down analysis. Always. It takes an extra five minutes and it filters out half your losing trades. Never trade a lower timeframe signal against a higher timeframe trend. Good session today. 📈
