Just want to share a thought from something that happened today - I am currently teaching my 11th batch of GS4. I have been teaching the GS4 paper since 2021. Today - we ended the philosophers and thinkers classes in the current GS4 batch. 10 hours, 50 Philosophers & Thinkers later - when hundreds of students met me today and said that they are able to apply these concepts not just in answers but also in their real lives - and better their being, calm their emotions, empower their understanding of life and problems - that gave me Real Happiness and Satisfaction of being a teacher. Nothing above this feeling, this happiness. Eudaimonia :) Thanku for giving me this opportunity to truly do what i am loving and enjoying. I have lately been feeling that the “Book Reading Culture” in UPSC circuit is dying. Book reading used to be a very important thing - since it helped in improving intellect, analysis, expression, communication and what not!! But in the era of reels, shorts and reduced attention span - books have been almost forgotten (obviously not Laxmikanth:)) So we are taking a step - maybe only a few of you would be interested - but I have been wanting to do this since a very long time. So tomorrow (Sunday 20th September) - I am conducting the first RISE session where I will do a Live Book Reading & Discussion session at 7PM - 8:30PM. Some other faculties, members, mentors and rankers of US will also be present. Book 1 - for week 1 - “Who Moved My Cheese?” By Dr Spencer Johnson. (You dont need to bring your copy of the book) All of you are invited (ofcourse with limited offline seats) All you need to bring is maybe a diary, pen, waterbottle, excitement, decorum, a curious mind and phones on silent :) Please come on time because late entries will cause disturbance and hence they wont be allowed.
