Seyed Mohammad Marandi

Speaking on Al Mayadeen’s The Grand Standoff: Iran and the World, Professor Mohammad Marandi slammed Western governments and institutions for their response to the "genocidal war of Saudi Arabia and the Emirates against the people of Yemen, which had the full support of the West." Citing figures, Marandi said the death toll had reached hundreds of thousands, with some estimates as high as 400,000 or even one million. He pointed to repeated bombings of Yemeni airports, arguing that they had drawn no comparable condemnation from Western governments or media because Saudi Arabia was responsible. Addressing Yemen's retaliatory strikes on Saudi airports, Marandi argued that they came after Yemen had declared Saudi airspace and airports closed and carried out earlier strikes on oil depots, aircraft and airport facilities. He added that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman "bears full responsibility for refusing to shut those airports," adding that "Yemen has a responsibility to pressure the Saudi regime."
