GTs should be a part of your preparation from the beginning, because they help you assess where you actually stand even while your syllabus is still ongoing. Your first read builds the base, but your rank will ultimately come from repeated revision, testing and analysis.
HOW TO PREPARE DOR NEETPG 2027
If you are preparing full time for NEET PG 2027, I would divide your preparation into clear rounds rather than trying to do everything together from day one.
For the first reading, you can give yourself approximately 6 months as the upper limit. So if you are starting now, roughly October to March can be used for building your base properly.
The first reading is the most important because this is where your concepts have to become strong. Read your main notes thoroughly, not superficially. If you have not attended proper classes, I would strongly suggest doing them because the current NEET PG and INI-CET pattern is increasingly clinical, integrated and application based.
While doing every subject:
1. Read your main notes properly.
2. Solve PYQs alongside the topic.
3. Add topic-wise DQB practice for whatever you are studying.
4. At the end of the subject, give a proper class/subject test.
5. Start giving Grand Tests right from the beginning. The frequency may initially be less, but GTs should not be postponed until the syllabus is complete.
So the first round should essentially be:
Main notes + PYQs + topic-wise MCQs + subject tests + GTs.
Once the first reading is complete, your second reading should become much faster. Ideally, the time taken for every subject should reduce to almost half. For example, if Obs & Gynae took you 6 days in the first reading, try to finish it in around 3 days in the second reading.
During this round, revise the notes again, but now focus more on recall, weak areas and questions you had previously got wrong. Also start doing subject-wise tests covering approximately the last 7–10 years of PYQs.
This is also the stage where Transform 10X tests become very useful. These are mini tests which help you maintain spaced revision through MCQs. So even if you are actively revising one subject, you continue touching other subjects through questions and do not completely lose contact with them.
Grand Tests should continue throughout the second round as well, and their frequency should gradually increase. More important than simply giving a GT is analysing it properly and identifying whether your mistakes are because of lack of knowledge, inability to apply a concept, or volatile facts.
In the next revision round, add Fast Track T&D along with your regular revision. By now your reading should be much faster and more active. You should be revising notes, doing Fast Track T&D, continuing tests and progressively increasing your GT frequency.
As you come closer to the exam, also start adding the mock tests available in your test series. Mocks are important not only for knowledge but also for attempting strategy, speed, negative marking control and developing exam temperament.
For the third major revision, I would use LRR or Live Rapid Revision. At this stage you should not be trying to relearn the entire syllabus. The purpose is to consolidate the most important and repeatedly tested information quickly.
The final revision can then be done through DVT. This should essentially become your last high-yield compression of the entire syllabus before the exam.
So broadly, your preparation can look like this:
First round: Main notes + classes if required + PYQs + topic-wise DQB + subject tests + GTs
Second round: Faster revision of notes + subject-wise PYQ tests + Transform 10X + GTs
Third round: Fast Track T&D + faster note revision + increasing GT frequency + mock tests
Next revision: LRR + MCQs + GTs/mocks
Final revision: DVT + your mistakes/volatile points + repeated PYQs
For May INI-CET, the same preparation will help you immensely. You do not need an entirely different preparation. As you approach INI-CET, increase your focus on PYQs, image-based questions, integrated clinical questions and INI-CET pattern tests.
The most important thing is not to spend too much time trying to make the “perfect timetable”. Start the first reading properly and keep moving.
