🚨 BREAKING: TELEGRAM SHARING USER DATA WITH GOVERNMENTS Telegram's founder Pavel Durov —known for his commitment to privacy and freedom— has made major changes to the app's Privacy Policy & TOS following his arrest.

"Telegram has your back when it comes to privacy."

"We will never change our Privacy Policy due to legal threats."

Durov could not keep up with this promise; Telegram will now disclose IP addresses & phone numbers of users who violate rules in accordance with court orders. Durov has always criticized rival platforms [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10] for security & privacy flaws, but never addressed those of his own. Moreover, almost all of @Durov's posts dating before 2022 have been mysteriously edited the past month. Is Telegram truly as transparent as it claims to be? Is Telegram any different from these "non-private" platforms at this point? 🚨 JUST IN: TELEGRAM FOUNDER & CEO PAVEL DUROV ARRESTED IN FRANCE Pavel Durov has been arrested after his private jet had to make an unplanned stop. French authorities issued a warrant, charging him with facilitating crime on his app such as terrorism, drug trafficking, mass fraud, money laundering, child exploitation, and more. The EU are pushing for a high-profile trial to send a strong message to criminals on Telegram. Durov could be facing a 20 year prison sentence (source) As a result of this news, Toncoin has plummeted 15-20%, and is expected to drop further. Despite Durov's arrest, close associates say that they long had contingency plans in place, and that the messenger will continue to operate as usual.
