According to information released by Wood County officials, smoke from the warehouse fire may contain a variety of potentially hazardous substances, including carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, PVC, nylon, carbon black, titanium dioxide, fiberglass, Teflon, formaldehyde, maleic anhydride, styrene acrylonitrile, polybutylene, terephthalates, acrylic materials, and emissions from burning plastic containers and cardboard.
If you’re in or near the affected area, follow guidance from local officials. If possible, stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed, limit outdoor activity, and monitor official updates as the situation develops.
