🎉 Happy National Unity Day from SGIA! 🇷🇺
National Unity Day is a Russian public holiday celebrated annually on November 4th. It commemorates the historical event known as the "Day of the People's Unity" that took place on November 4, 1612, when Russian forces led by Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin successfully defended the city of Moscow against Polish invaders.
The victory of the Russian forces is considered a symbol of unity and patriotism, as it brought together people from different social classes and backgrounds who joined forces to protect their homeland.
The holiday was officially established in 2005 by President Vladimir Putin to promote national unity and reconciliation among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in Russia. It serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and solidarity in overcoming challenges and preserving the country's cultural heritage.
Russian Unity Day reminds us of the importance of standing united, regardless of our differences. Being MGIMO’s leading international faculty, SGIA has embraced this principle wholeheartedly, promoting diversity, inclusivity and understanding among our students.
On this joyous occasion, SGIA extends the warmest congratulations to all students, both Russian and non-Russian alike. May Russian Unity Day serve as a reminder of our shared commitment to unity, friendship that transcends borders, and academic excellence.
🇷🇺 С днем народного единства! 🤝
