The convoy, which came under heavy attack, was unable to enter Serêkaniyê. It is extremely dangerous for displaced people to return to their homes before the jihadist gangs affiliated with the Turkish state are driven out of Serêkaniyê. In recent months, these gang groups had released footage threatening the Kurdish people.

Hundreds of Turkish MIT operatives are entering Damascus. Al-Julani is dismissing and sidelining men who do not belong to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, while the jihadist foreign fighters (muhajireen) are undergoing intensive training in Wadi Barada in the Qalamoun region (Damascus countryside). Many of them have already reached the Lebanese border in preparation for entering Lebanon. The Ministry of Interior and the sovereign ministries have also been placed under the control of figures affiliated with Turkey, such as Abu Saeed and Abu Ahmed Hudud. Lebanon’s entry into the conflict and its destruction could mark the beginning of a major war.

It will inevitably reduce the dependence on the strait of Hormuz but this isn’t the overall goal; it’s simply a welcomed effect. Keep in mind that the pipeline can be struck at will by virtually any actor at any given time - this is exactly why the argument of the pipeline being a strategic move that weakens Iran is redundant; silly even. And it’s not like the contracts with the gulf counties will become obsolete as soon as that pipeline exists - it’s additional oil/gas that add layer of economic stability to Europe but it won’t supply Europe on its own; even in combination with other countries such as Azerbaijan that supply the EU with gas. One shouldn’t mix fiction and propaganda with the realities on the ground and one shouldn’t misinterpret the overall ambitions of the factions involved to glorify whatever faction. So that we are clear: the pipeline is good; it will benefit everyone. It simply isn’t what many are interpreting it to be. From another perspective it’s very interesting to see how normal news/developments are being interpreted to an extent in which it essentially becomes propaganda - much of it existing solely for some DC lobby groups to score points. It’s a form of art in my opinion/ X: @ScharoBajalan

Just in case you are confused, because fiction far outweighs reality in the current state of ✨expertism Iraq and Syria have signed a memorandum of understanding that the Kirkuk-Baniyas pipeline should be built. It is however not being built yet; nor has Iraq/Syria allocated the funds, necessary resources and most importantly the land rights to rebuild the pipeline. Then there’s the question of how and who will pay for it as a pipeline simply can’t be built in Iraq/Syria separately and then be attached to each other. Even if both sides are in full agreement - in the middle of a conflict that is escalating day by day, an actual contract won’t be signed nor will any side start to (re)built the pipeline. Would be worthwhile to understand that the pipeline is not being built to bypass the Strait of Hormuz in some scheme to weaken Iran - like many experts are suggesting. The pipeline is simply put, reducing costs and increasing the capacity that can be sold to Europe - it’s beneficial to all sides.

There was a time when the very existence of Kurds in Syria was a subject of debate; today, Kurds are regarded as a significant actor in discussions about Syria’s future. One of the most important social gains of the July 19 Revolution was the transformation of women’s position in every sphere of life. This change was not limited to women taking part in institutions or governance mechanisms; it also led to the re-examination of traditional relationships within society. As a result, despite all its shortcomings, the July 19 Revolution can be considered one of the most significant political and social achievements of the Kurdish people in the last century. What will make it stronger is not only recounting its successes, but also having the courage to openly discuss its deficiencies. Because what keeps a revolution alive is not merely the victories it won in the past, but its capacity to learn from its own mistakes as it prepares for the future.

On the 14th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution, while we remember all the martyrs with respect and gratitude, we also deem it our duty to say a few words. What distinguished July 19 was not merely the Kurds’ demand for self-governance. The fundamental point that set it apart from many other experiences in the Middle East was its attempt to construct itself not as an ethnically based power project, but on the foundation of the democratic nation concept. This vision carried the claim that “These lands do not belong to a single people alone; all the peoples, faiths, and cultures living here can coexist together.” It was asserted that Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Armenians, Turkmens, and other communities could build a shared life under the same political roof. Alongside all criticisms, one very important truth must not be forgotten: The Kurdish people have undergone a profound historical transformation.
