Evin is a heavyset man aged in his late 30s who presents after his knee suddenly gave way while he was playing basketball one week ago. He reports having jumped for a ball and landing awkwardly on his right knee. He could no longer play the game and went home to rest his knee. The knee quickly became swollen and painful, and he can no longer fully straighten it. He now walks with a limp. Although he is slightly overweight, Evin is otherwise healthy. He occasionally has carpal tunnel syndrome of his right hand. He takes no regular medications. Evin does not smoke and consumes 1–2 standard alcoholic beverages per week when out socially with friends.
