BUILDING A SECOND BRAIN by Tiago Forte Second Brain - Expanding Your First Brain With Technology. Building A Second Brain is a methodology for saving and systematically reminding us of the ideas, inspirations, insights, and connections we’ve gained through our experience. It expands our memory and our intellect using the modern tools of technology and networks. Second Brain Is Needed Where Our First Brain Lacks. Our brain can only store a few thoughts at any one time. Our brain is for having ideas, not storing them. That's why we need to stop competing with intelligent machines and use their power as our second brain. Four Step Process To Build Your Second Brain CODE or Capture,Organize,Distill and Express is the 4 step process that we can use to build our second brain.Buidling a second brain is all about how you use the information in digital space. So every step is related with how you capture, organize, distil and express an information. Capture - Keep What Resonates We can capture anything that you came across like highlights from what you read, meeting notes, quotes or images. We can also capture our internal thoughts, reflections and stories.Capturing Everything is not useful as you have to organize it later so just keep what resonates. Organize - Save For Actionability The best way to organize your notes is to organize for action, according to the active projects you are working on right now.Surprisingly, when you focus on taking action, the vast amount of information out there gets radically streamlined and simplified. You can use PARA system to organize your notes on the basis of actionability How To Set-up P.A.R.A System PARA is the simple system for organize your digital life created by Tiago Forte What is it PARA? PROJECT: is a series of activities linked to a goal AREAS : It is a sphere of activity to be maintained over time RESOURCES : Themes that interest you ARCHIVE: Anything that is not part of the other 3 categories Project Vs Areas Project examples: • Writing a Book • Run a marathon • Writing a Proposal Areas examples: • Fitness • Writing • Business • Finances • Spirituality Distill - Find the essence) At this stage you have information in an organised manner, the missing part is only this "How can you find your notes in future ?". The solution is simple,it is to progressively summarize the notes you have.Progressive summary is nothing but distilling your notes to find the essence. You can do Progressive summarization in two steps, Step 1 - Bold the important part in notes. Step 2 - Highlight the important part from what you have already bolded. Now,you have your original note along with bolded and highlighted parts. So next time when you visit that note then you will have a ready made summary. Express - Show Your Work All the previous steps—capturing, organizing, and distilling—are geared toward one ultimate purpose: sharing your own ideas, your own story, and your own knowledge with others. What is the point of knowledge if it doesn’t help anyone or produce anything ? The Express step is also where we practice and hone our ability to retrieve what we need, when we need it. It’s the step where we build the confidence that our Second Brain is working for us. You can retrive your notes by, - Searching for a keywords - Browsing through your notes - Using tags Maintaining Your Second Brain Like every system, a Second Brain needs regular maintenance. One of the way to maintain any system is to review it from time to time.Similarily Weekly and Monthly Reviews helps you to periodically review your second brain and decide if you want to change anything.

10 blunders that are keeping you from getting hired (and how to fix them) ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #1 ❌ Not understanding the problem Fix: ✅ Re-read the question until you understand constraints and edge cases. ✅ Re-phrase question in your own words and verify understanding with the interviewer. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #2 ❌ Not asking questions Fix: ✅ Clarify any detail about the problem you find ambiguous. ✅ Ask for problem constraints. Range of values, size of input, etc. ✅ Ask the interviewer if they prefer time or space optimized solution. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #3 ❌ Not planning before coding Fix: ✅ Determine starting and ending points for solving the problem. ✅ Develop a high level algorithm before refining details. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #4 ❌ Not thinking out loud Fix: ✅ Discuss solution approach with the interviewer. ✅ Walk them through your implementation by dry running code. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #5 ❌ Not using hints Fix: ✅ Acknowledge the hint and how does it help. ✅ Expand on hint and see where else can it improve the solution. Coding Interview Mistake #6 ❌ Not giving brute-force solution Fix: ✅ Start by sharing simplest brute force solution. ✅ Explain why the approach is sub-optimal. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #7 ❌ Not optimizing the solution Fix: ✅ Go through the solution step by step and identify the inefficiencies. ✅ Resolve inefficiencies by using right data structure or algorithm for the task. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #8 ❌ Not speaking while coding Fix: ✅ Keep explaining to the interviewer what you are coding. ✅ Don’t speak code verbatim, also explain why you made a decision. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #9 ❌ Not knowing Big O notation Fix: ✅ Know time and space complexity of classic algorithms. ✅ Practice calculating complexity of your code. ⚡ Coding Interview Mistake #10 ❌ Not testing the solution Fix: ✅ Dry run the code with sample inputs and edge cases. ✅ If code doesn’t work, show that you understand why is that so. TL;DR Not understanding the problem Not asking questions Not planning before coding Not thinking out loud Not using hints Not giving brute-force solution Not optimizing the solution Not speaking while coding Not knowing Big O notation Not testing the solution Telegram: t.me/placements4all

Smallcase Interview Experience Company - smallcase Position - Software Engineer - Frontend (internship) How I applied - contacted hr After resume got shortlisted, I got a call from hr and he mentioned briefly about the 4 rounds Round 1 (Technical) It was a technical interview which revolves around questions regarding 👉 javascript, 👉 react 👉 More frontend related questions and networking, etc. Questions were easy-med level and was moreover a chilling experience which also focused on soft skills. Got positive feedback. Round 2 (Take home assignment) 👉 Create an input text box with search functionality on key press. 👉 Show the list of search results in a paginated view with 5 results per page. 👉 Add a load more button to allow users to load the next set of results (the next page). 👉 The search should happen automatically as the user types. Test cases to be handled. - Cache the results on the FE for a particular query for some time, so that we don’t make an api call for the same query. - Start making the call after the user has at least typed in 3 characters. - Wait for some time after the user finishes typing, so that we do not send the api calls for intermediate states. - What happens if an api call for a previous query takes more time than the current query, how would the UI handle that ? Handling inconsistency in UI. The main focus was on the code quality, how I approach the problem, how confident am I about the concepts I already know. Result - Got positive feedback. Round 3(Live coding) 👉 Asked the working of project and the reasons to use the specific hooks used, which he got impressed after explaining it. 👉 It was focused on the assignment I've submitted and also involves live coding on brief problem statements. 👉 Got stuck in the component reusablity, needed a button to be globally reusable. I've known to make but never implemented it, got stuck really bad at it and thus rejected. What I learned 👉 Be thoroughly prepared and add additional features before interview for live coding round, you never know what he might ask to implement it ;) #interview #experience #interviewexperience Telegram: t.me/placements4all
