Federal Public Services Commission (1937) Establishment: u/ GoI Act 1935 to oversee recruitment & admin of federal & provincial public services in India Key Features: Independent body to conduct examinations, ensure merit-based recruitment for civil services Aim: regulate appointments and reduce political interference Served as a precursor to modern UPSC post-independence Significance: Strengthened framework civil services, ensured continuity in admin recruitment during transition to provincial autonomy Challenges: British control = limited scope
