Today, August 30th, 2025, marks four years of sobriety for me. I struggled for more than two decades with out of control alcohol consumption, with very few breaks in that entire time and any of those extremely short lived. I could not have done it without the help of God, and it is only thanks to Him that I will not suffer the terrible fate that my father and both grandfathers did. The cycle of alcoholism and death ends with me. I also have one particular, very dear friend to thank for helping me in so many ways. He knows who he is and how much I appreciate him and all he has done for me. If I can stop drinking, trust me, anyone can, with the help of God and friends who have been through the same struggle. If you're struggling with alcoholism, do not despair, there is hope! I was one of the worst drinkers you can possibly imagine, even though it may have looked from the outside as if I was holding it all together. If I told you how much I was consuming every night you probably wouldn't believe me. And yet, here I am, four years sober. Even I didn't think it was possible until it was. Praise God, He is so Good!
