Lately I’ve been reading this fascinating book. The author breaks down the nature of ‘insurgents’ and explains ‘counter-insurgency’ methods used by established governments. Insurgents are rebel groups & networks which fight and try to overthrow an existing government in a specific region. Curiously, the most important resource of insurgents is not weapons or intelligence, it’s actually ‘the people’ –maintaining communication with and winning the support of the people local to the relevant state or region is how insurgency thrives. Cutting insurgents off from the people or turning the people against them is among the primary methods of counter-insurgency adopted by governments. In recent decades, state forces have learned that disrupting and vilifying insurgents is more effective than trying to kill or jail them, since: a) Taking out individuals fails to destroy the network and, b) Incidents of state cruelty or injustice are used by the networks to delegitimise the establishment and bolster more support for the rebel cause. Although the book is written mostly in reference to Arab terrorist groups, while reading it I quickly noticed some striking parallels with our situation in Australia. I suppose when your government is under foreign occupation, local patriots and citizens loyal to the original nation are treated like insurgents.

We're trying what we can without going into pharmaceuticals and it was slowly moving forward but recently it kinda got worse. It's more and more visible that in many potential endeavors and difficulties he backs off instead of trying, going, or just listening and doing what he's told. Today it was a rough morning as he has sore muscles and thought he wouldn't have to go to school. So know he's more sore. Took us an hour of giving him 77 chances to get ready on his own. To add to it, when I was away from home for a week, he stopped talking to me or to the rest of anyone he talks to if I'm in the room. Also, I was following false child raising paths from the mainstream when he was small so now hard to tell which part is his anxiety and which part is me giving him a pass in the morning too many times because I had to be on time somewhere. I'm fed up, I was close to do things I would later regret. I wanna give up and give him some meds so he'll become normal and not live through life under a blanket. I know though, psychiatry is mostly Jewish and drugs so fucked up twice. But do you know if anti anxiety meds are an option at all? He's not even a teenager yet.
