Good evening Sir,
I hope you are in the best of health.
I wanted to share my interview experience for IFFCO GEA this morning:
The panel had 7 members. I was first asked personal questions (name, residence, college, and the reason for my year gap).
• When asked about my favorite subject, I mentioned the thermal section. Then they moved on to technical questions related to it, such as:
- Steam temperature
- Joule's cycle/Brayton cycle
- Mach number and speed of sound
- Types of steam turbines and various compounding methods
- Where the pressure drop occurs in a reaction turbine
- Questions on heat exchangers, including types, LMTD (Log Mean Temperature Difference), and its calculation
• In addition, I was asked questions from other areas:
- The difference between a screw and a nut-bolt
- Square threads, their advantages, and the different types of threads
- Advantages of single-start threads vs. double-start threads, and how many starts are possible
- The position of the lead screw in a lathe machine
- Carburizing—why it is done
- Various heat treatment processes and their purposes (e.g., annealing for increasing ductility)
- The application of the Brayton cycle and whether it is used in power plants
The interview lasted about 12 minutes out of a maximum of 15 minutes. Out of the 7 panel members, 4 or 5 actively asked questions. Candidates requiring ticket reimbursement were asked to stay, while others were free to leave or have lunch.
Thank you for your guidance and support, Sir.
