The characters Kelly Beeman (who is now based in New York) paints are poised with a confident gaze, long necks for peering, and extravagant clothes. They call to mind Salinger’s precocious teenagers – bright and perhaps up to something. What they wear is recognisable, rather than summoned from the imagination; a Dries Van Noten beaded dress, a cropped Dior jumper in cyan. It’s a way, she says, of replicating personhood. It’s little surprise that the fashion industry has fallen in love with her work, and she’s come to be known as a fashion illustrator.
While studying Fine Arts in University, Yuliya Yg was interested in portrait and figure drawing the most. After graduating, she worked as a graphic designer for International brands. Later she decided come back to Art and continue to paint portraits with a focus on fashion.
In her illustrations she shows a person with strong character, ambitious and independent.

German foundry TIGHTYPE have crafted a neo-grotesk type family in both solid and stencil versions, taking inspiration from 20th-century grotesks such as Gothic No. 124, Times Gothic and Modern Gothic, as well as the industrial aesthetics of stencil fonts and the lettering found on 90s rave posters.
