STATEMENT FROM TEK NO BORDERS AND BORDER DISORDER -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x- Free parties are political. Their values have always been closely linked to antifascism and anarchism. We believe that our community must also stand against borders, nations and imperialism. The free tekno movement was born from international mobility: sound systems have always travelled, refused to be confined to a territory, and confronted borders, the State and the police. The freedom of movement that made our counterculture possible must be accessible to everyone. Being a traveller cannot be just a lifestyle: nomadic culture must also carry a political demand. We reject the idea that birthplace and passport should determine who is allowed to move, live and freely build their own life. A free party is not just a party. It is a temporary space of autonomy, deterritorialisation and self-organisation. We have created transnational networks of people, equipment, information and mutual aid, outside institutions. We already know how to create spaces where certain borders disappear. So why should we accept as natural those that prevent other people from doing the same with their own lives? Faced with the brutalisation of migration policies across Europe, we want to clearly state our position today: -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x- AGAINST FORTRESS EUROPE We refuse to let European borders become graveyards in the name of security. Frontex is the European border police, responsible for more than 73,000 deaths since 1993: people shot at borders; people who died by suicide in detention centres; people tortured and killed after being deported; people who drowned at the European borders. It is part of a system of surveillance, control and deportation that makes borders increasingly militarised and impenetrable. We demand the end of Frontex and of all infrastructures used to track, detain and deport people on the move. We do not want a border that is “better managed” or “more humane”. We want the disappearance of the system that produces borders. -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x- AGAINST IMPERIALISM European borders cannot be separated from global relations of domination. Wars, economic exploitation, the seizure of resources and imperialist interventions all contribute to forced displacement, which Europe then responds to with more walls, surveillance and repression. We refuse to endure the consequences of imperialism while accepting the system that produces them. -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x- AGAINST THE RISE OF FASCISM Across Europe, nationalist, racist and fascist discourses are gaining strength. Migrants are portrayed as enemies, borders are glorified, and state violence is becoming normalised. We refuse to let fascism decide who has the right to move, to live, to work, to dance or simply to exist. Our antifascism cannot be separated from our struggle against borders. Our anti-imperialism cannot be separated from our struggle for freedom of movement. And our autonomy cannot remain confined to our parties. Free parties have taught us not to wait for permission.
