Expiratory reserve volume (ERV) :- is the forcibly exheal after normal inhalation an amount of air and in addition of the TD In male it reach (100cm3) and in females reach (700 cm3). Vital capacity :- This is the maximum amount of a person can expel the lungs after first filling the lungs to their maximum extent and then expiring to the maximum extent. is the sum of the above volumes the TD , IRV , and ERV . In male it is about 4800 cm3 and in female is about 3100cm3. Residual volume (RV) :- when you do a very deep expiration an amount of air will be remains into the lung 🫁 it reach 1200cm3 in male and 1100 in females . Total lung capacity :- It is the maximum volume to which the lungs can be expanded with the greatest possible inspiratory effort, all lung volumes and lung capacities are greater in large and athletic people than in small and anathetic people. it is the sum of vital capacity and residual volume . It reach 6L in male and 4.2 L in females . Dead space :- is the the gas that doesn’t participate in gas exchange it is the 150 cm3 of the tidal volume that remain in the air passageway . Inspiratory capacity (IC) :- is the volume of air person can breath beginning of the normal expiratory level and distending to the maximum amount of inspiration and it is the sum of tidal volume with inspiratory reserve volume . The fictional residual capacity (FRC) :- it is the amount of air that remain in lung after end of normal expiration . #physiology
