BREAKING: Telegram version 13.0 is out, and it includes the built-in Gram Wallet 💎 Send Grams in any chat like sending a photo, hold NFTs, connect to apps, and keep your own secret phrase. Durov just announced it's ready and already in the hands of a select group of users, with a gradual rollout to a billion+ people over the next couple of weeks. Today is the 31st of August. The last day of summer. He promised it this summer, and he shipped it with just a few hours left. He thanked the validators who approved the smart contract, and said future upgrades won't require painful migrations. The wallet's code doesn't live in your account. It sits inside TON's network configuration, shared by every user at once. When it is improved once, everyone's wallet improves at the same moment, with nothing to update and nothing to migrate. 💎 GRAM WALLET IS COMING, AND THE CHAIN IS ALREADY READY. Validators finished voting this morning, and Telegram's wallet code is now sitting inside TON blockchain itself. They pushed a speed upgrade through at the same time, so the network handles way more traffic than it could yesterday. And this code didn't exist publicly until yesterday. Under 20 hours from published to live on the network. We still don't know the exact launch date. But back in July, Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, said this summer would see the largest rollout of a non-custodial wallet in history. Summer ends Monday the 31st. So we'll likely see it on or before that day. @TonNomads

💎It's happening right now. TON validators are voting to put the Gram Wallet contract code straight into the blockchain's own configuration. That's the native Telegram wallet. Right now 291 of 385 validators have voted. That's 73.86% of the network's weight and it needs 75%, so 3 more validators to go. This round closes in 17 hours, and it needs to pass two separate rounds before it's locked in. Final deadline is September 8. They're voting on a second thing at the same time: bumping the leader window from 4 slots to 16, which pushes TON’s TPS up by around 30%. If the application is approved by ICANN, a billion Telegram users could get their own second-level domains. 🖥 For example, @durov would get durov.gram, and @monk would get monk.gram. Users would be able to set up their interactive websites hosted by Telegram — just by typing one prompt ✨

🍌 How scammers are making up a new biography for Nikolai Durov ⚫️ Over the past few weeks, mentions of a mysterious AI project called VISION, supposedly linked to Nikolai Durov, have been popping up here and there. As part of our #antiscam series, we decided to take a closer look — and what we found is a pretty unusual example of just how far scammers are willing to go to make a fake project look legitimate. ⚫️ The story they picked is actually quite convincing. More than a year ago, Pavel Durov said that his brother was working on his own “thinking AI,” something different from conventional LLMs. No public details have surfaced since, and it looks like scammers decided to fill that information vacuum themselves. ⚫️ The “project” has its own website, while Nikolai Durov has effectively been given an entirely new online identity. There is a personal résumé-style page listing VISION as his latest project, a LinkedIn profile supposedly belonging to Durov with a matching bio, and — to make the whole thing look even more convincing — an 80-page whitepaper allegedly written by him. ⚫️ The document starts falling apart pretty quickly once you look at it closely. There are plenty of inconsistencies, while the most interesting part — how this new “thinking AI” is actually supposed to think — is described surprisingly superficially. Meanwhile, dozens of pages are spent on much more basic technical details, including hashes and various record formats. We also asked ChatGPT to review the technical side of the whitepaper separately, and its assessment was highly skeptical as well. ⚫️ The biography raises similar questions. As Full Metal Jetton reported last year, very little is known about Nikolai’s life today: he lives in Dubai, got married, and became a father. And given how private he has always been, it is pretty hard to imagine him suddenly setting up a personal landing page and actively promoting a new project online. 💡 The biggest red flag comes at the very end: the project’s website lets you connect a TON wallet and sign a transaction. Needless to say, do not do that. As always with #antiscam, the advice is simple: stay vigilant, verify what you see, and don’t trust something just because it looks convincing. @thedailyton

UPDATE: Pavel Durov has explained why Telegram was briefly removed from the App Store. According to Durov, a single attacker planted AI-modified illegal content inside an active public group by editing an old message, making it difficult for members to notice and report. Durov described the attacker as a takedown extortionist — someone who allegedly demands ransom from group owners, then plants prohibited content and reports it directly to Apple when they refuse to pay. He says Apple removed Telegram from the App Store before contacting the company, despite Telegram using user reports, AI filters, content hashes and other moderation tools to detect and remove illegal material. Telegram removed the content, banned the account responsible, and the app was restored within hours. Durov warned that this exposes a wider risk: coordinated attackers could potentially manipulate app-store enforcement to target legitimate communities and even entire platforms. His message to other developers and online communities: STAY VIGILANT. @TonNomads

💬 UPDATE: The reason Telegram briefly disappeared from the App Store is now clear. Apple says it temporarily removed Telegram after its review found CSAM content that violated the App Store’s strict safety guidelines. The app was restored after Telegram promptly removed the content and banned the user who posted it. Telegram then pushed back, asking whether Apple would apply the same standard equally to every other app, while linking to its public Safety Overview. According to Telegram’s live transparency page, the platform has blocked 337,942 CSAM-related groups and channels in 2026 so far, alongside nearly 22 MILLION groups and channels blocked across all violation categories this year. Telegram says it maintains a ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY, automatically checks public images against databases of known illegal material and publishes daily transparency reports on removals. The app’s brief removal now appears to have been a content moderation enforcement issue. Now Telegram wants to know whether Apple will enforce the same standard equally across every other major platform. @TonNomads
