Getting back to DAFES PROJECTOR🔦
Check out the interview with Yanek Iontef, a USSR-born type designer, typographer, and founder of Fontef, an independent typefoundry.
I would recommend looking back at our history and realising that everything had already been done before us; we just have better tools. My motto is:
don’t try to invent anything before you have studied enough of the heritage.
I took up type design only after I’d seen some old letters on early 20th-century signs.🔗read the full text

Sonya is an Israeli self-taught Illustrator, independent artist and art educator 🎨
I don’t think routine is bad or boring. Comfortable and clear routine is what I’ve been trying to build up for years. It helps me to keep order at work and in all kinds of things, like "I know what comes next, and it’s the kind of rhythmic movement that keeps me on track".🔗the full interview is available in the 40’s issue of PROJECTOR MAGAZINE #daily_art

DAFES PROJECTOR🔦
shares an archival interview with Oded Ezer, a Tel Aviv-based typographer and design educator.
Commercial projects often look experimental. Experimental ones can be something you can sell if you want. But I think that you can't live with just one aspect — if you neglect the commercial side, you lose touch with what we call graphic design.🔗read the full interview and check out some of the projects mentioned by Oded: biotypography → unifying letterforms and biological systems to create new typographical phenomena, Hebrew and Latin typo-ants 🐜 original design flag💡→ what happens when you come up with somebody else’s idea without even knowing it? 🎞 memory palace → eight short silent typographic videos, in which 20 leading designers bring alive Hari Kunzru’s work of fiction.

DOT.FONT TYPE SYSTEM
by Oded Ezer
a font intended for a generation that prefers viewing to reading🔗DOT.FONT enables the integration of text and video in a visual manner, where they are presented as equals, ensuring perfect synchronization between the video and text. → In a paraphrase of minimalist art, this type system organises its environment and defines it as a terrain with minimal elements. → The letters aim for universal expression, free from cultural or historical associations, and without evoking specific emotions or feelings. 🎧tune in to a podcast featuring Oded Ezer discussing typography, technology, mythology, and beyond #daily_design

Rap, New Russian poetry.
Book One. Husky
by Elizaveta Piskunova
The first book analyses linguistic units that represent spiritual search in the texts of the Russian rap artist Dmitry Kuznetsov (aka Husky).
🪶Husky’s poems are written with the tonic system of versification, used in Old Russian prayer books before the reforms of Lomonosov and Trediakovsky.
Surprisingly, trendy music that breaks common patterns returns to the origins of Russian poetry, exposing its essence.

To acknowledge Miu Miu's achievements this year, #dafes_follows Lotta Volkova, the fashion stylist in charge of the majority of the brand's campaigns.
Coming from Novosibirsk, she graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins and is now working with brands such as Vetements, Balenciaga, Blumarine, Jean Paul Gaultier, and others.
Her unique aesthetic is influenced by post-Soviet street culture, alt-punk, and fetishism — this combination has proven to be highly influential in recent fashion seasons.
🔗take a look at the interview where Lotta reflects on her childhood in Russia and discusses the factors that shaped her creative vision
🥼Miu Miu was named the most popular brand of 2023 worldwide by the Lyst Index.
Established in 1992 by Miuccia Prada, Miu Miu draws its name from the founder's family nickname. The brand made its public debut in 1993 with a collection that celebrated a cowgirl aesthetic, featuring stylish fringed suede jackets and patchwork prairie skirts.
Today, the brand frequently experiments with utilitarian ’90s minimalism and part-futuristic uniforms.
