🌕 ACCOUNTABILITY & CORRUPTION - Both are inversely proportional. - Power + Discretion—Accountability = Corruption (ARC-II) Examples: 1] Secrecy in the bureaucracy makes it more powerful. It becomes the basis for corruption. (“Corruption thrives in secret places and avoids open places”. Woodrow Wilson.) 2] Discretionary powers with civil servants to use the resources available with administration become the basis for corruption. Join 👉🏻 @UPSC_Ethics_Example

🇮🇳"Dharnai"🇮🇳 A village in Bihar, is India's first fully solar powered village. https://youtu.be/97QpEHQKlq4 Dharnai is a small village with 2400 people. Located near Bodh Gaya in Bihar’s Jehanabad district, it didn’t have access to electricity. But a few years ago, the villagers took things in their own hands and changed their fate forever. With the help of Greenpeace, the village installed a solar-powered micro-grid, which provides 24×7 electricity to more than 450 households and 50 commercial establishments. The entire project cost them 3 crores, making Dharnai India’s first fully solar powered village. Since the time Dharnai declared itself an energy-independent village, students no longer have to limit their studies to the day time, women no longer fear stepping out of their homes at night, and small industries are prospering, as the village heads for a better, brighter future. #IMPLEMENTATION

🌕 EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EI) Knowing and understanding one’s own emotions and other’s emotions and regulating one’s emotion
🌕 EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EI) Knowing and understanding one’s own emotions and other’s emotions and regulating one’s emotions to behave in a socially desirable manner. In simple way, it is about intelligent management of emotions for effective behaviour. Examples: 1] A ‘Sthithapragnya’, according to Lord Krishna is one who remains unperturbed in the face of calamity, and takes good or evil with equanimity. He has the power to emotionally attach or detach from any situation, at his will. 2] Vardhmaan worshipped as Mahavira because he was able to win over his emotions. Quote: Aristotle has said that “Anyone can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with right person at right time and for right purpose - that is not within everyone’s power and that is not easy”. Case Study: 1] Dedication towards society 2] Community service 3] Initiative taking ability. 🍀Meet The Clothing Man of IndiaAnshu Gupta, the founder of NGO Goonj, was moved by the basic need of clothing, an issue that does not have a place in the development agenda. ¶ Using cloth as starting point for other crucial yet ignored needs like sanitary pads, school material for education, Goonj started to contribute to India’s re-growth with the help of urban waste. Cloth For Work Initiative/ Dignity For Work: ¶ He felt that charity deprives the people of self-respect and hence, he introduced the concept of "cloth for work". ¶ Villagers work to dig wells, clean ponds, repair roads, and build schools in the community using local resources, for which they were compensated with material resources like clothing, utensils, furniture, and food grains. Quote: The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. (Mahatma Gandhi) Join 👉🏻 @UPSC_Ethics_Example
