I see a lot of new members Thanks for joining in I suggest you to read the pinned message to know the topics I cover (though I often talk about a lot more) and go through the posts that you find valuable You can expect multiple posts in a day, or none sometimes Not all the posts are formatted. Some are short one that are simply my raw thoughts. What I promise, is you'll either get to learn a new lesson or tool to improve by at least 1% in life. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask. STAY BASED

Yesterday, I wrote a thread on controlling your pleasure seeking tendencies It would be a lie if I say I have gained complete control. I haven't. Even now, I sometimes get pulled towards pleasure. Because let's be honest, you can destroy your boredom and imaginations to a great extent, but there might be certain moments where you do get bored, or when the imaginations sets in. The frequency obviously reduces over time, but it hasn't gone to 0 for me (yet). But I still manage to control myself. How? Using 2 simple tricks I haven't mentioned before: 1. I constantly remind myself why I am doing this. And I remind myself in a way that I mean it, not with a weak voice. Your mind can easily defeat you if you aren't sometimes forceful with it. 2. Instantly replace my tendency with a productive activity. I might go on a walk, do some push ups, write something, read a book, or anything else. You don't have to go on an hour long walk. Just for a few minutes, until your want for pleasure has gone down. Then go back to whatever you were doing, or continue doing the productive activity. Nothing has helped me more than these 2 tricks. I can't emphasize enough the importance of trick 1. Just by constantly remembering why you're doing what you're doing, you'll be able to achieve wonders. But you have to do it like you mean it. As I mentioned in the thread, put massive energy into everything. You'll get tired, but you'll get the work done effectively and will enjoy the work. Stop acting dull all the time. You have got 1 life, put in all the energy you can.

If you haven been improving yourself for weeks or months, there's absolutely no reason you should consume content that gives you self help hacks, 5 min workouts, etc You already know all the basics. Consuming such content is an absolute waste of time. You have to understand this. It might look like you're just watching a 5 minute video. And before you know, you'll have wasted hours. Moreover, you'll simply be watching these videos for the dopamine spike. You'll enter into an imagination of how good your life will be once you follow these hacks. And you'll never come out of it. Sounds over-exaggerated? it's not. I speak this from experience and from what I have observed. If you want to continue consuming content, consume content that grows your perspective. Or content that helps you build a skill. Nothing else. Stop wasting your time.

Might start posting again

No one has the ability to speak Truth all the time We are all biased. Including me. We speak what we think is right. It can either be from our observations, or from our knowledge. Either way, we can wrong. Of course, some are more wrong, delusional and biased than others. But we're all wrong to some extent. Why is this important to know? It's important so that you realize, that you never have to completely agree with something. Just because someone said something wrong, doesn't make all their statements and observations wrong. And just because someone said something right, doesn't make all their statement and observations right. You have to always consciously think over what the other person is saying. You have to relate it with your life experiences, and find what's right and what's wrong. And your decision should not be dependent on the person saying it (this does not apply that you have to spend time with the wrong person for the sake of gaining some knowledge)

Why is struggle important in life? 1. To avoid trauma or misery in life 2. To live a successful life The 2nd point should be quite obvious to everyone. You can't be successful without escaping your comfort zone. For this post, we'll focus on the 1st point: Often, trauma or misery comes from comfort, not from struggle Everyone hates working. But what so many fail to realize, is that true misery comes from being in your comfort zone. Because you become dependent on everything around you. You become dependent on your relationships. You become dependent on your video games. And one day, you lose everything you're dependent on. Your partner leaves you. Your family stops providing money for you to play video games all day. Then, trauma and misery hits. You become depressed. At that very moment, you get 2 options in life: Either continue living in depression, or change your way of living and change your thoughts You can either live in the memory of what you have, or you focus on getting your shit together You can either keep seeking "support", or you struggle to live a better life As you struggle, you'll face and overcome challenges. These challenges will bring a new light into your life. You'll enjoy conquering them, way more than you'll enjoy living a comfortable life. While you used to think you can't be with someone else, you'll find a way to be with someone else, or be happy with yourself. While you thought you couldn't live without video games, you'll find a way to enjoy your work. But, you can't do this as long as you live in your comfort zone. You have to struggle. You need not go through un-necessary misery, but you have to change the way you think. You have to be prepared to live the life you can't imagine living. Because if you don't, misery will come looking for you.

Taking the wrong decision is often more important than delaying the decision for days or months With the wrong decision, you'll have an outcome. You'll know what works, what doesn't. With a lack of conscious decision, you'll end up doing what your mind un-consciously seeks And as we all know, our mind seeks pleasure Your mind will make you waste your time by watching movies and eat junk food all day Look, I understand you fear taking the wrong decision But by not taking a decision, you're making your situation worse. You're giving up control over yourself.

"Your ancestors used to hunt, fight wars, blah blah blah, you can't even do xyz" You have probably heard this crap a thousand times on Twitter And let's be honest, sometimes we need it. Sometimes we need that small boost in motivation, and a reminder to do what's necessary. But you can't compare yourself to your ancestors. Your life is completely different. Now, I know some of you will say: "It's obvious that we're comparing ourselves to our ancestors only for motivation, not to be depressed about the fact that we're physically lazy assholes" Great. That's your conscious mind thinking. But you aren't always consciously thinking. Most of the time, you're intuitively or unconsciously thinking. And when you're in that intuitive or unconscious state...everything that you read, heard and believed in...starts to have it's effect on you You'll start regretting not being as strong and brave as your ancestors. Of course, this won't be the only reason you'll regret being lazy. There will be a 100 reasons. But what's common, is all these reasons were accumulated when you were hearing, reading, or viewing something. Which makes it important for you to consciously consume shit. Alright, coming back to the topic. You can't compare yourself to your ancestors. You can't live in the woods to "struggle". You're living in a way too comfortable life to do that. But what you can do, is go through the suffering available in the modern world: -Exercise -Meditate -Read -Walk -Avoid gossiping -Avoid non-productive or self-destructive activities Everyday Is this easier than what your ancestors did? Of course. But try being disciplined, and you'll know how easy it is. Look, the struggle for your ancestors was physical. For you, it is mental. It's to make your mind do what's necessary. it's to develop your mind by feeding it with knowledge. It's to gain the perspectives your ancestors couldn't gain. Again, this might sound easier than what your ancestors did. It's easier than what poor people go through every day. But we have evolved into this. You do not have to worry about food every day. This doesn't mean, you shouldn't work. But when it's so easy to get the output, you have to find your struggle in something else. Like intellectual struggle. Why is this struggle so important? Well, most of you will know from your life experiences. Though, I'll soon create a post on that too.

Repost from Masculine Tribe
Do not help others before you have your shit together. Don't try to be a hero or a saviour. You are your first priority. First fix your life then focus on helping others.

Have a Based Weekend!

I got a lot of questions after I posted this So, let me clarify something I am not absolutely against using music for focus. If something works for you, it works. Nor am I someone who is going to say something I just randomly came across. My job is to help you solve your problems through awareness And from my experience, I have found that while music can help you not get distracted by others...music itself can become a distraction It may be just for a few seconds, but your focus can divert towards music (even if it's non-lyrical) Now, I am not saying that you have to always work without music. I can because I never made myself dependent on it. But of course there are other things I am dependent on. Yet, it's important to have the ability to act without being dependent on something else to act. I often do the same while walking and exercising. I avoid any kind of music, or even podcast. Just being focused on the shit I am doing. If you can't always do it, then surely use music. But be aware if music is becoming your distracting. And if your real problem is something else, then you should be focusing on solving that problem. For instance, a lot of people can't focus without music because music calms them down. The same is with masturbation. It calms people. But it's not acting as a solution. It's acting as an escape.

How to motivate yourself to do things you don’t want to do: We all have some tasks, or projects that sit on our to-do lists day after day But we never seem to “get around” them because we just don’t want to go near them. Let’s look at how to get around to them, and how to hack our way into getting them done. 1. Make it Pleasant If you’re going to have to do something you really don’t want to do, make it pleasant. Put on your favorite music, go sit on a park bench on a sunny day, or ply yourself with a reward afterward. 2. Break It Into Smaller Steps Sometimes the tasks you need to accomplish seem so daunting and overwhelming that you don’t know where to begin. When this happens, you end up doing nothing and accomplishing nothing. Breaking it down into smaller tasks helps immensely. 3. Prioritize Steps Once you have the small steps mapped out, rank them on what is most important. What is the most immediate need and the least? As obvious as it sounds, many people don’t prioritize like that. 4. Put the Steps on a Calendar Put your tasks down on particular days so that when you get up that morning and look at what you have to do that day, you will see your tasks. When this happens, you will be more likely to accomplish them because it’s on your daily to-do list. 5. Do It First The simplest, easiest way to do things you don’t want to do is to do them first – as in, the first thing in your day. Take the hardest, most unpleasant task you have and get it done and out of the way. 6. Solar Flaring Start off with something very small and an easy thing to do, and use that forward momentum to get more work done. Some examples: - Just change into your gym clothes - Just write the introductory paragraph - Just put the cups and dishes in the sink 7. Pomodoros Work for 25 minutes then take a 5-minute break. 25 minutes is really nothing if you think about it. Anyone can do almost anything for just 25 minutes, it takes most people longer than 25 minutes to eat dinner. 8. Face Your Fear Doing things you don’t want to do isn’t always based on fear, but many of them are, ex: public speaking. Facing your fears head-on will make you a better person and can lead to personal growth. Remember, the more you do something, the easier it gets. 9. Surround Yourself With The Right People We thrive when our social interactions are positive and encouraging experiences. On the other hand, surrounding ourselves with folks who are undisciplined or unmotivated can have the opposite effect. 10. Think of the Long-Term Effects When you want to learn how to do something you don’t want to do, think about how your actions (or inaction) today will be affecting your tomorrow or 10-20 years from now. 11. Visualize the End Result It’s easy to become discouraged when you are not seeing the results of your efforts But stick with it, remember how great it will feel once you accomplish your goal. Bring to mind what your end goal will really look and feel like. What to Do Next? Something interesting about this: It's easy to accept that you worked on intuition and fucked up in the past Or even in general, it's easy to accept that you were dumb in the past Because that automatically makes you wise in the present. Which you often aren't. It's way too difficult to accept your dumbness in the present. Surely, you can accept it after a few minutes or hours. But at the exact moment, if you're make yourself stop from taking a stupid decision...that's a great skill to have Obviously it takes time to develop that skill. And the skill comes from being aware. But once you have it, once you stop fooling yourself, once you start accepting your dumbness in the moment...you'll save yourself a lot of effort and time. You'll already be way ahead of everyone else. But well, not a lot of people do this. After all, "thinking" is a boring process. Everyone just wants to believe they know everything, until they realize they didn't know anything, and then they think "now I know what to do", but again they don't. The cycle repeats. Not gonna lie, I sometimes act the same way. The skill of being so aware takes time to develop. But you just can't ignore developing it.

Without conscious thinking, you don't have intuition. All you have are biases, stupidity & programming in your head. You need to consciously think while you're in the learning phase. You can't go around working solely on based on your intuition. But once you have near mastered your skill, you can and often have to move towards intuition. The conscious thoughts can slow you down. For instance, while learning how to drive, you have to be alert. You have to think and learn how the vehicle works, how powerful the acceleration is, etc etc But once you learn to drive it at speed, you can't keep thinking over every small thing. You have to let your intuition do the work. Same goes for all your skills. Do not jump to intuition. Learn by consciously thinking. And then to master the skill and perform it, start using your intuition.
