| 6 | About The Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Lecture
The Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Lecture is an annual event organized by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on 2nd July to honor its founding Vice-Chancellor, Prof. G. Ram Reddy, who is regarded as the "father of open learning" in India. His visionary leadership laid the baseline for the nation's Open and Distance Learning (ODL) framework.
Key Highlights of the Lecture Series
Founding Legacy: It commemorates the pioneering educationist who established Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (India's first open university) and later structured IGNOU.
Esteemed Speakers: Every year, prominent public figures, policymakers, and academics are invited to address crucial themes in Indian education, governance, and development.
Broadcast: The event is traditionally live-streamed across regional centers via IGNOU's official YouTube channel and the Gyan Darshan TV Channel.
Recent Lecture Details: 31st Edition (2026): To be held on Thursday, 2nd July 2026, presided over by Prof. Uma Kanjilal, Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU. It features prominent panels discussing "Teacher Education Initiatives of IGNOU and Transformative changes in the Indian Education Scenario". | 400 |

The live telecast of 31st Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Lecture will be held in the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre, IGNOU Maidan Garhi, New Delhi from 10.50 am onwards on Thursday 2nd July 2026. The Gyan Darshan TV Channel, Gyan Vani FM Radio Stations, Gyandhara Web Radio, Facebook, YouTube and Swayam Prabha Channels will telecast/broadcast/webcast the Memorial Lecture from 10.50 am and Panel Discussion at 2.30 pm onwards.
