*Aromatase Inhibitors: A Breast Cancer Treatment Cornerstone With a Caveat:
👏 Aromatase inhibitors, a cornerstone in the adjuvant treatment 👉of the approximately 80% of patients with breast cancer who have👉 estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer, show significantly improved effects on cancer recurrence 👍👍and other outcomes compared with the previous standard treatment, 👉tamoxifen.
🦵However, as opposed to tamoxifen,👉 which shows no negative impact on bone mineral density (BMD) or fracture risk in postmenopausal women, aromatase👉👉 inhibitors are associated with a twofold to fourfold increased👉👉 risk for bone loss in postmenopausal women, posing the risk for osteoporosis 👈👉and fragility fractures, due to the drugs’👉 reduction of estrogen levels.
Worry is spreading regarding the multitude of cough syrup brands circulating in India, with alarming revelations of toxic diethylene glycol detected in some, resulting in heartbreaking instances of child mortality. This situation sheds light on the questionable efficacy of regulatory measures, as many small-scale producers evade scrutiny.

The new law will replace the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940, and it is being developed in line with international standards. The aim is to ensure accountability and transparency at every stage -- from manufacturing to market distribution.

Last week the Delhi High Court had ruled in favor of Natco Pharma and held Roche's patent on Risdiplam as invalid. Natco had said the court had laid special emphasis on the public interest, considering the Swiss drug maker's pricing had rendered the drug inaccessible and unaffordable to the bulk of the patients.
